Author at Blue Heron Health News

Hi, I'm Shelly Manning — a natural health practitioner, clinical researcher, and one of the five co-founders of Blue Heron Health News.

I was born in Britain and emigrated to the United States with my family as a teenager, and I've spent the last 25+ years of my life doing one thing: helping people overcome chronic health conditions using natural, science-based approaches that actually address the root cause instead of just papering over the symptoms.

For most of my career I ran a busy private practice. I worked one-on-one with patients struggling with arthritis, gout, kidney disease, bone loss, iron overload, chronic respiratory issues — the kinds of conditions their doctors had told them they'd simply have to "manage" for the rest of their lives. I saw, over and over, that this wasn't true. With the right protocol, real recovery was possible.

The trouble was, I could only see so many people in a day. By 2008 my waiting list had stretched to six months, and I was turning people away every single week — people who needed help I knew I could give them, if only there were more hours in the day. So I made a decision. I closed my practice, joined forces with four other natural health researchers I respected enormously — Christian Goodman, Scott Davis, Jodi Knapp, and Julissa Clay — and together we founded Blue Heron Health News. The whole point was to take everything we'd learned in our clinics and put it into step-by-step programs that could reach thousands of people, not just the handful we could see face-to-face.

I'll be honest — I'm a bit of a research obsessive. Before I'll put a single recommendation into one of my books, I want to see the science behind it. That's why my programs cite anywhere from 47 to over 885 peer-reviewed studies each. I read the dry, technical journals most doctors never have time to look at, and I do my best to translate what I find into something simple, practical, and doable in your own kitchen.

Today I'm the author of six Blue Heron programs: *The Arthritis Strategy*, *The End of Gout*, *The Chronic Kidney Disease Solution*, *The Bone Density Solution*, *Ironbound*, and *Banishing Bronchitis*. Every one of them comes from the same place — the patients I sat across from in my clinic, the research I couldn't stop digging into, and the firm belief that you deserve real answers, not just another prescription.

Thank you for being here. I'm so glad our paths have crossed.

For your health,
Shelly Manning
