Julissa Clay

Author at Blue Heron Health News

My name is Julissa Clay, and I didn't set out to become a natural health author. I set out to help people heal — one at a time, in my own clinic, the way I'd been trained.

Then life rewrote the plan.

At 37, I underwent a hysterectomy. Uterine fibroids had grown my uterus to three times its normal size — my surgeon later described it as "four fists crammed together." Ovarian cysts the size of small fists kept rupturing, leaving me bedridden for days. I'd already lost both my parents to cancer, and a beloved family member to breast cancer, so the word "tumor" terrified me in a way only grief can teach you.

The surgery saved me. But what came next — surgical menopause, a brief and disastrous attempt at HRT, and the realization that mainstream medicine had very little to offer a woman in my situation — sent me back to the place I'd always trusted most: the research.

I spent over 850 hours combing through medical journals, physiology textbooks, and peer-reviewed studies, hunting for natural answers. What I found became my first book, The Natural Menopause Solution, in 2011. It also became the blueprint for everything I've written since.

Before all of this, I trained as a medical researcher and spent five years at a top university with full access to the kind of password-protected databases most people never see. I built and ran my own health clinic. I traveled to international conferences and collaborated with both conventional doctors and alternative practitioners around the world. And in 2008, alongside four fellow natural health researchers, I co-founded Blue Heron Health News so that the protocols we'd refined patient by patient could finally reach thousands instead of dozens.

Today I've authored seven comprehensive natural health programs covering menopause, psoriasis, fatty liver, IBS, shingles, gum disease, and nail fungus. Each one is built the same way: deep-dive research into the real biological root causes, the practical protocols I've watched work in real patients over years of clinical practice, and step-by-step instructions a busy person can actually follow using ingredients from any supermarket.

I'm a wife and the mother of three children I call my greatest blessings. I believe diet is medicine, that the gut is at the center of nearly everything, and that no real healing happens without a shift in mindset. I believe your body is not broken — it's responding to something, and once we find what, we can usually unwind it.

Most of all, I believe you deserve answers that actually work. That's why I write.

For your health,
Julissa Clay
