Usually, when we talk about healing yourself with food, it unfortunately includes something effective but unimpressive like… eat your broccoli.
But not today.
Today I’m telling you about a way to shrink your prostate using something so sweet you’re absolutely going to be hooked on it (which is great for your prostate).
And it’s all backed by a new study in the journal Food Frontiers.
The researchers set up two types of experiments: one with mice and one with human prostate cells in a laboratory.
For the mouse study, they gave some mice testosterone to cause prostate enlargement, similar to what happens naturally in aging men.
Then they treated these mice with either nothing (control group), a standard prostate medication called finasteride, or Hovenia dulcis honey.
This is a honey produced by the oriental raisin tree, which has been shown to have very strong biological activity.
For the cell experiment, they exposed human prostate cells to male hormones that trigger enlargement, then treated them with the honey to see what happened.
The findings were quite impressive:
-
● Mice treated with the special honey showed significantly smaller prostates compared to untreated mice with enlarged prostate.
● The honey reduced the thickness of prostate tissue, which is important because thicker tissue contributes to urinary problems.
● Levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) — a powerful male hormone that drives prostate growth — were lower in honey-treated mice.
● The honey decreased signs of inflammation in the prostate, reducing levels of inflammatory molecules called iNOS, COX-2, IL-6, and TNF-alpha.
● It prevented a process called “epithelial-mesenchymal transition” (EMT), which basically stops prostate cells from changing into a form that contributes to enlargement.
● The honey increased levels of a good protein that keeps cells in their place (E-cadherin), while decreasing levels of proteins that make cells move around and cause problems (N-cadherin, vimentin, and α-SMA).
● In the laboratory cell experiments, the honey blocked the same pathways that were affected in the mice.
This means that the honey from the oriental raisin tree can address the causes of prostate enlargement by blocking multiple pathways that cause unnecessary growth.
My guess is that any good quality, strong honey will have results in the same direction.
But if you want to completely heal your enlarged prostate enjoying honey is not enough. You need to make a few more easy diet and lifestyle changes.
