These “non-manly” foods boost TestosteronePopular culture often prompts foods like big beef steaks as “manly” and the key to boosting testosterone and healing ED in men.

A new study published in Nutrients proves this is completely wrong. Instead, it reveals one compound found in a “less manly” food as a miracle testosterone booster and ED healer.

Testosterone is produced by Leydig cells in the testes. It plays a vital role in the development and maintenance of male sex organs, muscle mass, bone density, and overall energy levels.

As men age, starting in their 30s, testosterone levels decline by about 1% per year. When it drops very low, it’s a condition called hypogonadism.

In a review of the scientific literature on the link between natural antioxidants, testosterone, and hypogonadism, the researchers found several natural polyphenolic compounds that enhance testosterone production and prevent age-related hypogonadism.

1. Flavonoids. These are found in fruits, vegetables, tea, and herbs. Specific flavonoids like luteolin and apigenin can stimulate steroidogenic genes, enhancing testosterone production. These are present in celery, thyme, and parsley.

2. Flavonols. Flavonols like quercetin, found in apples and berries, have been shown to improve testosterone levels in animal studies.

3. Flavanones. Naringenin, present in grapefruits, increases testosterone in the blood and reduces the activities of substances that interfere with its production.

4. Catechins. Found in apples, red wine, and tea, most studies show these compounds to increase testosterone in rats. Some trials have, however, found that the catechins in green tea may actually reduce it.

5. Resveratrol. Common in grapes and red wine, resveratrol usually enhances the production of sperm and testosterone.

6. Isoflavones. Found in soybeans and chickpeas. Interestingly, soybeans have gotten a bad rep for increasing estrogen or confusing estrogen signaling, but this is complete nonsense.

Most of this research is promising and suggests that you can maintain healthy male hormone levels and avoid ED by eating plenty of foods rich in polyphenolic compounds. Fruits, vegetables, herbs, coffee, and tea should constitute most of your meals.

Meat, dairy, and grains, which tend to fill most of our plates, contain very little of these healthy compounds that can help you avoid ED. Interestingly this completely counters common “YouTube science,” which promotes a high meat diet to boost testosterone.

But even boosting testosterone naturally doesn’t always combat ED. There is however a simple, easy home exercise (explained here) that almost always heals ED, sometimes the very first day…
