So this really surprised me. I mean, c’mon, we’ve all been told that being overweight increases your risk of cardiovascular disease, and stuff like that.
Which is why this new research is pretty shocking.
Turns out that being overweight could actually reduce your risk of cardiovascular complications. But that’s not the end of the story – there’s more to this.
It’s almost common knowledge that excess body weight doesn’t help when it comes to good health. Obesity seems to be involved in developing serious diseases like cardiovascular problem, diabetes and many others.
Yet, a research team from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center stumbled upon something unique and unexpected. Call it the obesity paradox!
They reviewed the data of 36 studies that were conducted earlier. They found that overweight patients were about 27 percent less likely to die after heart procedures like coronary bypass surgery or angioplasty compared to those who were underweight or had normal weight.
BMI or body mass index calculates the value corresponding to the height and weight of an individual. BMI values of 18 to 25 are considered normal while anything under 18 and anything over 25 are considered to be underweight and overweight respectively. BMIs over 30 are classified as obese.
In the study, those with BMIs between 25 and 30 or in other words overweight were found to have a lower cardiovascular risk compared to those with BMI ranging from 20 to 25.
It is mostly genetic causes that cause heart problems in people with normal weight while overweight people get heart problems due to lifestyle factors that can actually be brought under control. So the study rather shows that genetic caused heart attack is more fatal than lifestyle caused one.
The fact remains that if you’re overweight, you’re more likely to suffer a heart attack in the first place. And therefore more likely to die of heart attack. Being overweight also increases risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.
So here are some ways for you to take command of your health, starting now:
Burn that fat away now. Without exercises. Without diets. With a simple method that works based on sound biochemical principles. Have a look here.

I think this indicates that those who are not overweight have different underlying cause for heart attack than those who are overweight. Very interesting.
Interesting to read what the latest discovery regarding overweight patients.
The best protocol to use here is for the author to be more definitive when citing info like this. Would it not be much more compelling if the author stated the data in the following manner………..” 36 studies conducted over the past ____ years covering a total of ____ participants” . Nevertheless, your publication is first class! Please keep up the good work.
