Huh. There’s this weird cause of blood pressure that could be affecting you right now.
Even if you’re watching your diet. Even if you’re making sure to exercise.
But there’s hope: learning what this “weird” thing is can help you avoid it. Easily, too.
And surprise! Eliminating it can lower your risk of high blood pressure by a whopping 38%.
Negative social interactions can have a terrible impact not only on your day, but also in the more distant future. According to the researchers in CMU, fighting with friends or family members can increase high blood pressure as well as heart attack risk in adults.
The study focused on a previous long-term survey conducted in University of Michigan on 6000 people between 2006 and 2010. The researchers excluded all participants who were previously diagnosed with hypertension and focused only on 1502 participants who did not previously have high blood pressure. The idea was to find out if negative interactions like fights and quarrels had an impact on hypertension.
They made a very significant finding. Those who rated their negative interactions with their loved ones at 2 in a scale of 4 had a 38 percent higher risk of developing high blood pressure in the next four years. For every higher rating on the scale, the risk increased by 38 percent.
Interestingly, it was women between the age of 51 to 64 who were most susceptible to develop high blood pressure due to negative interactions. Men and women above 64 years somehow seemed to be less inclined to be affected by the emotions or more capable of dealing with them.
In another study, researchers found that those who had positive social interactions in the past ten minutes usually had lower blood pressure readings on an average based on measurements.
So the message is: Take it easy! Don’t take fights and quarrels to your heart. Relax and de-stress whenever you can.
I see people who’re always ready to blow up over the smallest thing. They’re all red in the face and like they’re boiling. How many of those people suffer heart attack eventually? I’ve seen many.
Close your eyes, take a deep breath and count to ten. Then sit down and talk to whoever is making you mad. But worse is if we get all upset over news and politics. Things that we can’t do anything about.
Good to know. Family quarrels and agitations at work place actually bring about a push up in my blood pressure, l have just learnt.
Thank you very much for the enlightening information shared on the unexpected cause of High Blood Preasure. I will share this with as many people as possible who I know to be quarrelsome or hottemperred. Thank you.
I am in full agreement with this one ,because I have seen constant arguing send a relative into avery serious stroke. So take heed my friends.
I definitely agree with this one. Stress have a very negative impact on our health and well being.
People who fight a lot tend to suffer high blood pressure and even more likely to get cancer!
Stress and negative emotions bread diseases and all kind of illnesses. We should learn to solve our problems without fighting, just simply talking to one another. And like someone suggested, when you get angry or emotional count to ten or walk away and take a long breath. It’s not worth to ruin our health.
Thanks for great info
I do also agree anger bitterness madness will cause heart disease, stroke, hypertension, and I’ve learned cancer!! Sit down or even listen to the bible while driving if can’t pick up and read, it’s something about the Holy word that calms and tames the beast. I will also join you,and share this info. with others! THANKS!
what kind of scam is this? the 3 simple exercises are highlighted( no indication that it is an ad., looks like a continuation of the article). when I click on them it goes straight to a pitch to sell me something. I don't have any stress with my family, I was looking for something to bring my bp down not to be tricked into watching an ad trying to sell me a book)
High Richard, can you advice me about the 3 simple exercises before I make a decision. Thanks
This is good advice, however, the “solution”” to “Take it easy! Don’t take fights and quarrels to your heart. Relax and de-stress whenever you can,” is the “same” remedy we always hear; and, it always appears without any further instruction; no one has a definitive way to “not take things personally,” or to “relax” in any given situation, especially at the doctors office when they take your BP. The actual “monitoring” of the BP using the cuff is in fact something that has a direct affect on BP and is not the most accurate device because it engages the parasympathetic nervous system. A true and correct reading can and is only possible if this system is bypassed. So, all of these “good” recommendations are pointless because they lack definition and only serve as “sucker” bait in order to extract more $ from your wallet, much like the audio recording Mr. “Goodman” makes available on this website. Please, lets ALL strive to deal only in TRUTH for a change instead of being a slave to the almighty money god.
If you are right there is no need to lose your temper and if you are wrong there is all the more reason not to lose your temper. Losing your temper affects you most than anyone else both emotionally and health wise. So be wise not to lose your temper and health.

He or she who gets angry hurts more, and not who he or she is angry at. No matter how bad it gets, try to settle all disputes amiably for the sake of keeping yourself safe from the in flow of unnecessary headaches and pains caused by pressure from your overheating body and nerves<—— from the ——< heart. Be calm always,
“Be calm always”? Really Michael? You must have a charmed life… Most of us who are not wealthy have stressful lives of juggling work with looking after loved ones and a home. Life has become much more difficult these days due to worry about the cost of living, low pay and redundancy. And, of course, if someone starts an argument with you you sometimes have to answer back to defend yourself, otherwise they will be picking on your forever. It is not always possible to stay calm even with the best of efforts. Just walking down the road can be stressful if, for example, somebody drives into a puddle and soaks you. What are you supposed to do then, laugh?
This is pretty fundamental stuff – it’s pretty obvious that when you get angry your blood pressure rising significantly. For goodness sake, it’s not rocket science!
Christian, I had been taking Blood Pressure pills, but I wanted to stop taking them which I have. I've tried your 3 Easy Exercises and It's still 165 over 90. I have been drinking Green Tea, eating Brown Rice, Tomatoes, Garlic, Bananas, Spinach, Broccoli, which is suppose to help lower Blood Pressure. Also I'am Taking CoQ10 which also is suppose to lower Blood Pressure. I've been walking 20 to 30 min. a day for years, and that was before I started to have High Blood Pressure.
