How good would it feel to know that your eating habits are taking diabetes head-on?
That you are taking the right steps to ensure that someday you won’t go blind. That you won’t feel numb all over. That you won’t have a premature death because of this body-debilitating disease.
Ponder that for a second.
This was a pretty straightforward study: the researchers chose 54 volunteers suffering from Type 2 Diabetes who were in the age group 30 to 70. They were randomly assigned to 2 different groups. One group was advised to eat six small meals a day for 12 weeks. The other group ate 2 large meals a day for the same period. Both the groups consumed the same number of calories.
After 12 weeks the two groups changed their diet patterns and the researchers followed-up the volunteers for the entire 24 week period.
Even though the differences were not huge, it was still quite significant. The group that ate two large meals a day showed a reduction in body weight and waist circumference. Better still, they showed an improvement in their fasting blood glucose levels, better insulin sensitivity and lower fat content in the liver.
A hearty breakfast, a moderate lunch and a small dinner might work just perfectly for diabetics, the researchers remark. Other studies have also proved the benefits of two large meals a day.
so intermittent fasting really works,ok then I'll try this
Seems the old adage “Breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord and dine like a pauper” could be true.
Indication that snacking between meals is not a good idea, for other reasons as well.
Wait! Haven’t all the nutritionists, diet promulgators, researchers, been telling us for years that we (even us diabetics) should be eating six small meals daily–certainly not only 2 big meals? What do those experts say about this?
I have been doing this for years…
It is simple…our bodies are too efficient at processing foods, our metabolism want to turn everything we consume into Glucose…
If we only feed the body two/ three times a day, we starve ourselves just a little bit and thus produce less glucose
Another important diet tiip, which I follow faithfully is:
Eat only Veggies, Salads & Proteins…
Avoid Carbs as much as possible: I.e.: Bread, Potatoes & Pastas…
As far as I am concerned, i HAVE no symptoms of diabetes, SO…. I DO NOT HAVE DIABETES!!!
I WILL TRY THAT!
