Seniors are already at a higher risk of developing a number of diseases they avoided in their younger years.
But the presence of one incurable but common virus showed an increased risk of development of type two diabetes over their age mates who didn’t have it.
A study recently published out of the Netherlands followed senior citizens trying to determine if the presence of cytomegalovirus, a herpes virus, increased the risk for developing type two diabetes.
While the study couldn’t prove a cause/effect relationship, it did show a tendency for elderly people who have the virus to be more likely to develop type two diabetes.
The study didn’t include other age populations and was limited to participants aged 45 to 84.
The theory- and focus for future study- is that the virus, which causes tissue damage in different systems of the body, also affects the pancreas.
Insulin, a chemical in the blood critical to metabolizing blood sugar, is made by beta cells in the pancreas. It is believed that the virus interferes with the insulin production process, thereby increasing the risk of developing diabetes.
Here’s how you can put your type two diabetes on hold and reverse it forever…naturally and safely in just 21 days…

Very Interesting, Jodi Does this mean we were all ‘bad guys” in the day? Or did those painful sores on and around the lips I had off and on, even in my youngest days, and into middle age, finely do it’s worst damage?
I would like to feel that I did not bring this bit of hellish disease into my own life. I worked very hard for the last 37 years to eat as healthy as I could afford; and changed my diet drastically that far back; plus continued changing eating style from then on, even currently making drastic changes. at least now I do not have to feel so guilty about me.
Thank you, Jodi Knapp, and Blue Heron Health News, for this new mental relief. Maybe the peaceful feeling will help me rid myself of some illness. taylor
Pay attention, seniors.
Where are the citations on this? Without citations, this is nothing more than a wild idea.
Taylor. As with so many other studies we talk about on this site, this is only one of many things that “might” contribute to type 2 diabetes. As the researchers also said, there is no proof of cause and effects. So there might just be an underlying COMMON cause for both the virus and type 2 diabetes that has not been discovered. So no need to beat yourself up oner this.
Without insuring that there is no deficiency of Chromium, Vanadium or Alpha Lipoic Acid, and other possible nutrients, the study means nothing.
Seriously, this is the most well rounded feature on this topic I’ve ever read. As everyone knows, there’s a ton of information all over the internet on this but it’s more confusing than ever. Finally, an article that just tells it like it is.
It’s so refreshing to discover posts like the ones you article on your internet site. Quite useful looking through. I will hold you bookmarked. Many thanks!
