Multiple sclerosis (MS) is known to accelerate aging, causing physical decline faster than normal.
But new research presented at the ACTRIMS Forum 2025 reveals how certain diet changes reverse this accelerated aging process.
For MS patients, this means better health, improved immune function, and slower disease progression… even regression.
The researchers from Johns Hopkins University and the University of Virginia analyzed blood samples from 75 MS patients across two dietary studies, comparing their biological aging markers before and after different eating plans.
Here’s what they found:
-
• Intermittent fasting (eating very few calories twice weekly) reduced biological age by 1.25 years per week.
• A ketogenic diet (very low-carb, high-fat) reduced biological age by 1.12 years per month.
• Both diets reversed the accelerated aging seen in MS patients.
• Immune function improved, with healthier levels of key immune cells that help control inflammation.
This is one of the biggest breakthroughs in natural MS treatments. Not just for symptom relief but for slowing the biological aging process at the root of the disease.
This also shows that MS is not a life sentence. Although the traditional medical system has no cure, you can apply many effective lifestyle changes.
