Most of us think of vitamins as something natural and harmless.
A safe pill we pop. Just in case we lack something.
But a row of recent studies change this.
One vitamin might be the #1 reason why neuropathy cases are soaring.
Worst of all… Almost everyone takes this vitamin.
If you suffer from neuropathy, you absolutely must stop taking this vitamin.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is essential for our health. It prevents conditions like anemia, depression, and immune issues.
Luckily, B6 is found in many common foods. Like meat, poultry, fish, eggs, oats, legumes, and bananas.
This makes deficiencies rare. Unless you’re on a restrictive diet or take medications that deplete B6.
Despite this, many people still take Vitamin B6 supplements. Often included in multivitamins.
That’s not a good idea.
Since the 1980s, reports have linked excessive B6 intake to neuropathy.
A 1992 study published in Neurology found that people taking 56 mg of B6 daily began experiencing neuropathy symptoms within 45 days. While those taking 12 mg daily showed symptoms after seven months.
In some cases, the nerve damage was permanent. Persisting after stopping the supplements.
Due to these risks, the British National Health Service recommends limiting Vitamin B6 supplements. No more than 10 mg per day unless advised by a doctor.
The recommended daily intake is just 1.2 mg for women and 1.4 mg for men. But many supplements contain doses as high as 50 to 200 mg — far exceeding the safe limit.
