A Delicious Food Destroys DementiaA new study published in the journal Neurology reveals that eating this delicious food 2-3 times a week significantly lowers your likelihood of suffering from Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

We’ve all heard that omega-3 oil is heart-healthy. Furthermore, what is healthy for the heart also tends to be healthy for the brain, as the resting brain receives at least 20% of the body’s blood supply for itself through a rich network of blood vessels.

Vascular brain disease is a condition in which the blood vessels in your brain are damaged. Because the brain requires such high levels of blood flow, nutrients, and oxygen, vascular brain disease can cause stroke or dementia.

Scientists from the University of Bordeaux in France mined the Three-City Dijon population-based study for data. This study investigates the relationship between vascular diseases and dementia.

They were looking specifically for participants with two bits of information available: brain MRI scans and a food frequency questionnaire that included fish.

Their subjects also had to be 65 years or older with no history of stroke, dementia, or hospitalization for cardiovascular disease.

These 1,623 participants were divided into four groups based on the frequency of their fish consumption per week: less than once, once, two or three times, or four or more times per week.

When they matched the subjects’ fish consumption with their brain MRI scans, they confirmed that those who ate fish two or three times or four or more times per week had substantially fewer signs of vascular brain damage than those who ate it less than once a week.

Specifically, eating fish two or three times a week had the same magnitude of effect on the brain’s vascular features that high blood pressure did, but in opposite directions, with the former being beneficial and the latter being detrimental.

This effect was strongest among participants aged 65–69 and did not exist for those above age 75.

In another new study just published in the journal Nutrition Reviews, the researchers surveyed previously published studies on the relationship between fish intake and dementia/Alzheimer’s disease to draw an overall conclusion.

They concluded that, on average, two fish portions of 250 grams each (8.8 ounces) per week could lead to a 10% reduction in dementia/Alzheimer’s risk.

But fish alone cannot prevent dementia. There is another ingredient that’s much more important. And if you load up on this ingredient, you can even reverse some of the brain damage you may already have suffered. I’ll explain this all-in detail here…
