Not so new news: High blood pressure is the number one cause of death worldwide according to the WHO (World Health Organization). It causes anything from heart attack and stroke, to type 2 diabetes and cancer.
Shocking news: But there is one thing you can do to lower your risk of dying from high blood pressure. Doing this equals to a 50-point drop in blood pressure.
…even if your blood pressure stays the same!
What’s more, this one thing you can do, doesn’t cost you a penny, is fun and easy, and takes only a few minutes per day.
A study conducted by the National Health Research Institute in Taiwan, shows how exercising regularly drastically reduces the risk of death from cardiovascular disease, especially if you have high blood pressure.
The study spanned over a period of 12 years and involved 434,190 participants. Among them, just 24% were moderately or more active while 22% showed low activity and 54% were classified as having an ‘inactive’ lifestyle.
Not surprisingly, death due to cardiovascular disease was much higher among participants who had an inactive lifestyle.
But here comes the shocking part…
Now we all know how dangerous it is to your heart to have high blood pressure. But the researchers found that being inactive was as lethal as a 50-point rise in blood pressure.
So if your blood pressure is borderline (lets say 140/90), and you live a sedentary lifestyle, it’s as dangerous to your health as having a blood pressure of 190/140.
Similarly, even if you have high blood pressure, but workout regularly, your hypertension is not as dangerous.
And this doesn’t mean you have to hit the gym five times a week. It’s more important to stay mobile and watch your activity throughout the day.
According to some studies, if you exercise regularly but still spend about 9 hours sitting in front of the computer, you are still under risk. So even at work, take breaks often and use the stairs whenever you can. Little things like this can make a big difference.
There is, however, one group of exercises that have been proven to drop blood pressure better than anything else. What’s more, these exercises take no physical effort and are extremely fun.

It's an amazing research, eventhough I exercise but still at time's I miss my exercise due to job related activities. Well I guess there is no excuse to continue even with a moderate daily exercise.

sir,
i am 56years old , i have blood pressure, what can i do to live longer, by reducing the BP.
I am from ghana, please help me
Yes, whenever I exercise like playing badminton, my blood pressure drops to within normal range. Currently, in the morning, it's usually 145/95, but after a game of badminton, it would be 130/85 and the after-burn of the exercise lasts more than 24 hours. So my BP stays well within range. And I also practice qigong on two days a week, the improvement in my BP is there but not as pronounced as playing a more vigorous game like badminton.
And it does not have to be a heavy exercise in a gym. My favorite form of exercise is daily walk in a park to reduce stress and to stay fit. Both useful for good cardiovascular health.
Thanks for sharing this research .
Yo, that’s what’s up trtlufhuly.
