This just in: a simple treatment for arthritis that you can do right now.
How would you like to tackle arthritis where it counts – on the molecular level?
Hmm. You don’t need to be a medical expert to do that, either.
Great news, right?
The exciting, new research findings presented at the annual congress of European League Against Rheumatism brought to light the amazing effects of simple exercise on local and systematic inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis, or RA.
The research study conducted on mice revealed that physical activity has the ability to reduce inflammation by generating biological responses on a molecular level.
It’s been known for some time now that exercise is very beneficial to arthritis sufferers; however, this study is the first one to identify the impact of physical activity on inflammation through biological feedback.
In this in vivo study, researchers measured the activation and regulation of protein complex (NF-KB) in mice, the compound that is commonly present with inflammatory diseases such as RA and bowel disease.
They created an inflammatory response in mice before and after the exercise by injecting them with lipopolysaccharides† (LPS). Then they measured the impact of exercise based on inflammatory response.
What they noticed was that those mice who exercised prior- and post-inflammatory response injection had much lower inflammation compared to those animals who didn’t exercise.
They explain that this amazing effect is thanks to suppression of pro-inflammatory compounds “cytokines,” produced by a wide range of cells that are involved in cell signaling.
Study investigators conclude that this significant study once again proves the importance of physical activity in arthritis patients and the impact of exercise to lower inflammation.
Researchers underline the need for regular physical activity for arthritis sufferers in order to create significant results.
Various exercises, such as yoga, stretching, aerobics, dancing, cycling, jogging, hiking and even weight lifting are great for people suffering arthritis.
However, always remember to discuss it with your health provider or physical therapist to find the best suitable physical activity for you.
