You never want it to stop. No, not ever. Let’s just say that when your heart stops beating, unpleasant things happen.
And high blood pressure can cause that to happen. You already knew that.
But high blood pressure doesn’t just affect your heart.
Oh no, this rather nefarious high blood pressure can wreak havoc on your body in different ways.
Here are some of the other problems that can be inflicted by prolonged or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
Kidney damage – Arteries in the heart are not the only ones to get affected. High blood pressure can also inflict stress on the blood vessels leading to and from the kidneys, causing kidney damage.
In fact, high blood pressure is one of the common causes of kidney failure.
Dementia – Narrow or blocked arteries that supply blood to the brain can occur due to high bloood pressure resulting in dementia, a disease that causes severe loss of memory, vision, thinking, speaking, reasoning and movement.
Damage to eyes – Imagine what would happen if the tiny blood vessels supplying blood to your blood vessels get damaged due to squeezing and stress inflicted by high blood pressure! Bleeding in the retina and even blindness can result due to high blood pressure.
Mild cognitive impairment – You can consider this as a transition stage between understanding and memory that occurs with aging. High blood pressure can hasten this problem and cause serious conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.
Sexual dysfunction – Blood flow is limited in arteries due to high blood pressure and plaque formation. High blood pressure can affect the erection and result in sexual dysfunction which can already be a common occurrence above 50 years.
Chase erectile dysfunction away with these easy methods.
Bone loss – High blood pressure can cause an increase in the amount of calcium in urine and thus lead to loss of bone density and osteoporosis, espcially in older women.
Sleeping problems – Recent research has identified that high blood pressure can actually trigger obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. The sleep deprivation caused by this problem can, in turn, aggravate high blood pressure, making it a vicious cycle.
Obstructive sleep apnea — a condition in which your throat muscles relax causing you to snore loudly — occurs in more than half of those with high blood pressure. It’s now thought that high blood pressure itself may help trigger sleep apnea. Also, sleep deprivation resulting from sleep apnea can raise your blood pressure.
There are so many things high blood pressure causes. No wonder it’s considered the biggest health issue in the world.
I would add type 2 diabetes to the list. It’s definitely connected to high blood pressure.
The tremendous pressure I endured during my husband's illness of 3 years caused my blood pressure to skyrocket. The doctor had me on as many as 3 blood pressure meds with all of their awful side effects. I learned that taking apple cider vinegar and hawthorn tablets keep my blood pressure down better than the meds did. Now I am completely off the meds and feel a lot better.
Virginia, thank you for your input. How much and how often do take apple cider vinegar? Thank you

I’ve read a couple of times where they are contemplating raising the standard from 140/90 to 150/90 on the grounds that extra 10 points does less damage to the body than trying to medicate and hold it down to 140, makes sense to me. I’ve heard these ads that are promoting Nitric Oxide to reduce blood pressure plus it has other good effects on the body. It’s an over the counter supplement so you don’t need a prescription, I’m going to give it a try. Peace n’ Goodwill. Shalom!
Please tell me how much apple cider vinegar you take as well as how many hawthorn tablets.? many thanks. Helen
