What does curry and hot peppers have in common?
Well, clearly they’re both spicy. Which also means that they could give you heartburn so awful that you’ll never want to visit that restaurant again.
But tread carefully as you sit down to enjoy a delicious dish – it might end up in heartburn, even if you don’t think it will.
Here are some foods that cause heartburn:
Citrus fruits:
Oranges, orange juice, grapefruit and most citrus fruits are classic examples of heartburn triggers. They are highly acidic in nature and increase the acidity in the stomach and cause heartburn.
Tomatoes:
While tomatoes are loaded with lycopene and other beneficial nutrients, they are acidic fruits which when consumed often or in large quantities can cause acidity problems. This is particularly true for those who are already prone to heartburn.
Onion:
Onion is a great flavoring agent and is indispensable in most cuisines. However, onions can trigger heartburn in certain individuals.
Garlic:
Like onions, garlic is also a very good flavoring agent that adds taste to the food. But unfortunately it comes with certain undesirable side effects, and we’re not just talking about the smell it leaves in the mouth. It can cause heartburn in certain people.
Mexican food:
Mexican food is known to be spicy and while it is really tasty and filling, it can have some unpleasant side effects an hour or so afterwards and the major problem is usually acidity.
Chili:
All spicy foods are well known agents of heartburn and chili is no exception. It can be particularly problematic if you consume it in large quantities.
Food with spices:
Spices like cloves, oregano and cinnamon are used as flavoring agents in many foods, especially spicy and savory food. While it enhances the taste considerably, it can also cause heartburn.
Pepper:
Pepper can trigger heartburn/acidity in a few people and should be avoided. Even if you need to use it in any food, use in moderation instead of the usual quantity.
When you get heartburn, try sucking on a sour ball. It produces a lot of saliva, and saliva is good for neutralizing acids. Some safe foods/snack options that doesn’t trigger heartburn include baked sweet potatoes, cottage cheese, broiled chicken and plain toast.
Ate anything you want..as long as you make 30 minutes exercise everyday..
Pepper, chilies, onion, garlic, Mexican food causing hyper acidity /heart burn & acid re-flux are basically due wearing clothes /dresses which have capacity to fragment the upper abdomen the acid content gets regurgitate into esophagus. Wear loose corsets to avoid regurgitation of acid. These eatables do not create the problem. Drink sufficient water.
Being in the front line, the gastrointestinal tract is exposed to the greatest danger if the diet we eat is not suited to us.
Gastric influx disease or heartburn is caused by a backflow of stomach acids into the oesophagus, a condition that results in inflammation of the oesophagus. Because this acid is produced to break down proteins it is erosive in nature and can damage the oesophagus. There are many factors that can lead to the developement of acid reflux disease, but the most common is incorrect foods.
A clue to culprit foods lies in that fact that gastric reflux is often the first symptom to disappear when carbohydrates are reduced in the diet. However severe, and even if made worse by factors like the backflow of gastric juice into the oesophagus in Hiatus Hernia, the chances of success are excellent. If patients come back with the complaint that the diet is no longer effective and their heartburn has returned, a closer look usually reveals that carbohydrates have again crept into the diet.
Another clue is that heartburn risk is much higher among people who are overweight. They also suffer more from diarrhoea. Professor Nicholas Talley, from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and his team investigated over 700 volunteers from Sydney, Australia. Their data suggested: 'that there is a positive independant relationship between increasing body mass index(BMI) and heartburn……and that obesity per-se is a risk factor for gastroesophageal reflux disease.' And obesity, particularly abdominal obesity, is caused by a carbohydrate-rich diet.
Similiar results confirming those of Talleys team were found in another study the following year conducted at the Karonlinska Institute, in Stockholm Sweden.
I had increasingly heartburn 4. Of over 15 years. I no longer have this. What changed was that I started eating organic fruits and vegetables and staying away from GMOs as much as possible. it took approximately 4 months for this to occur for me.
it turns out that the poisons they sprayed on foods many of them are designed to destroy the stomach of the bugs that are eating the food and cause them to die. It is speculated that poison residues on our foods cause this to happen to our system but in a much smaller when we dont die but then we have acid reflux.
when I started eating organic dark green leafy vegetables I had know I do that I was going to be healed of the acid reflux. I kept taking the medication but what would happen is that sometimes I would fall asleep without taking a medication and wake up worried that I could have choked to death because I did not take the medication.I started taking less medication and now I no longer need it take any medication. I used to spend between 60 and 90 dollars on anacids each and every month.
an addendum to my last postI know eat lots and lots of spicy foods, citrus, tomatoes etcetera etcetera etcetera. I do have a small box of anacids however it’s taken me over two years to use most of it.
I used to think that people who ate organic were kind of weird. What convinced me to do this what’s my minister, a monk of my church give me about a 20 minute lecture on the benefits of eating organic. I had no expectations none of my health improving in the way that it did.
I’m reading over some of my posts and because I’m doing this on a cell phone instead of on the computer there are some mistakes. Know should be now.
