“Healthy” Habit Makes Acid Reflux Twice as BadAcid reflux is mostly caused by lifestyle factors.

So you may have tried to opt for healthy alternative lifestyle factors.

But according to a new study in the Kazan Medical Journal, choosing one alternative may be going from bad to worse.

In fact, this habit may make your acid reflux twice as bad.

Researchers tracked 90 people, measuring their acid levels, digestive hormones, and reflux symptoms.

One group had way more acid reflux episodes — 54 times a day vs. just 21.5 in the others.

Their stomach acid was way stronger (pH dropped from 6.7 to 4.7—hello, irritation).

And their digestion was sluggish, just like people with full-blown GERD.

And the culprit? Vaping.

Turns out, vaping weakens the muscle that keeps stomach acid where it belongs.

It also messes with digestion by lowering motilin, a hormone that helps your stomach empty properly.

So, if you vape and your reflux is getting worse, it’s not in your head.

Cutting back (or quitting) could make a huge difference.

At the very least, avoid vaping near mealtimes and stick to smaller portions.

But to stop acid reflux completely, you need to fix the root cause.
