Make this one change to instantly improve or heal your ED – according to a new study in the International Journal of Impotence Research.
Tackle this single biggest measurable risk factor of ED without the need for doctors or drugs. In fact, most men do this on their own without asking anyone – and nobody has a problem with that.
For years, obesity has been recognized as a major risk factor for ED, but traditional ways of measuring body fat, like BMI and waist circumference, have their flaws.
-
- BMI: This measure doesn’t differentiate between muscle and fat, leading to misclassifications.
- Waist circumference: While better than BMI, it fails to account for height, which can skew results.
That’s where Relative Fat Mass (RFM) comes in—a more precise way to measure body fat.
RFM uses a formula based on waist circumference and height to give a clearer picture of unhealthy fat levels, especially the fat around the waist linked to higher health risks.
Here’s how to calculate RFM:
-
1. Measure your height and waist circumference. Ensure you measure your waist at the narrowest point, typically above your belly button.
2. Divide your height by your waist circumference.
3. Multiply the result by 20.
4. Subtract the result from 64.
RFM = 64 - 20 * (Height / Waist circumference)
The researchers used RFM to explore its connection to ED. They analyzed data from 3,627 men participating in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Controlling for factors like age, blood pressure, and diabetes, they uncovered some compelling results:
-
- Higher RFM = Higher ED Risk: For every increase in RFM, the likelihood of ED jumped by 11%.
- Worst in the High-RFM Group: Men in the highest RFM category were more than 100% more likely to experience ED than those in the lowest group.
- Age Matters: The link between high RFM and ED was particularly strong in men over 60.
- Other Conditions Weaken the Link: For men with diabetes or heart disease, RFM’s effect on ED risk was less pronounced since these conditions are ED risk factors themselves.
- More Accurate Predictions: RFM was a better predictor of ED risk than BMI or waist circumference.
The takeaway is, of course, that if you lose weight, your RFM goes down, and your ED should vanish with it. But is losing weight really a walk in the park?
