If you’re dealing with gout, you’ve probably been told to stay away from a certain type of food.
This is a tragic mistake says a new study in the journal Nutrients.
Because this “toe-inflaming” food will, in reality, reduce your gout by a whopping 33%… if you eat it in the right form.
This means you can drastically improve your gout by making one simple food swap.
Researchers from Zhejiang Chinese Medical University examined over 187,000 participants from the UK Biobank, tracking their dietary habits for nearly 12 years.
All participants were free of gout at the study’s start. The researchers measured everything from their blood chemicals to genetic risk factors to ensure accurate results.
They were especially curious about the role carbs play in gout development.
Here’s what they found:
-
• Total Carbs Lowered Gout Risk: Participants with higher total carbohydrate intake had a 33% lower risk of gout than those who ate the least carbs.
• Fiber and Wholegrains Helped: Higher fiber intake lowered gout risk by 28%, while wholegrain starch reduced it by 27%.
• Refined Starches Played a Role, Too: Even refined starches—found in white bread, white rice, and pasta—were linked to a 10% lower gout risk.
• Free Sugars Raised Gout Risk: However, high consumption of free sugars, like those in sugary snacks and drinks, was associated with a 15% increase in gout risk.
• Genetics Matter: Those with a higher genetic risk for gout experienced a stronger effect from their carbohydrate choices.
So why are carbs so good for gout?
Because gout is caused by uric acid crystalizing in your joints.
These crystals come from uric acid in your bloodstream.
The uric acid in your bloodstream comes from uric acid from your food.
And here is the key to curing gout…
A healthy digestive prevents uric acid from entering your bloodstream.
A healthy digestive system sucks uric acid from your food and dumps it down the drain.
A healthy digestive system breaks the gout chain this way before it begins.
And how do you create a healthy digestive system and avoid gout flares?
Eat specific types of carbs that support the digestive system.
Healing gout this way is simple, very simple.
I’ve taught it to hundreds of people.
Almost all of them are free of gout now.
And you can be free of gout, too. Just follow the simple steps explained here…
