MS researchers are on a mission: The search for a specific plant compound that can stop myelin damage at its source.
A new study in the Journal of Biological Chemistry found it.
And this compound doesn’t just stop myelin damage. It also helps rebuild it.
Does this mean we can reverse MS with ONE food compound?
A team from Oregon Health & Science University screened thousands of plant compounds.
They were looking for a compound that could block CEMIP, an enzyme responsible for myelin damage.
They found one that stood out: sulfuretin.
Here’s what the study revealed:
-
1. Sulfuretin blocks CEMIP activity: This compound effectively stopped CEMIP from damaging myelin in mouse models.
2. Promotes Myelin Repair: By blocking CEMIP, sulfuretin enabled cells called oligodendrocytes to mature, which helps rebuild myelin.
3. Potential for New Treatments: This could lead to treatments that directly target myelin repair, addressing the root cause of MS symptoms.
It’s not possible to get enough sulfuretin from food alone.
For MS patients, sulfuretin supplements will be a life-changer. They’re, however, new and still hard to find.
But even without sulfuretin, there is an effective way to reverse MS symptoms naturally.
I’ve helped people reduce (even eliminate) their MS symptoms, regain control of their lives, and experience relief they hadn’t thought possible.
