Aspirin alert: Terrifying heart attack connectionDoctors have long been prescribing aspirin as a blood thinner to anyone at risk of heart disease.

But does it help?

Or does it harm?

This has never been well-researched.

A new study published in The New England Journal of Medicine attempts to answer these questions.

And their results are nothing short of terrifying!

Takeaways:

1. No Cardiovascular Benefits: In the first study, 19,114 seniors aged 65 and over were given either 100 mg of aspirin or a placebo daily for nearly five years. The results showed no difference in the rate of cardiovascular diseases between the two groups. Aspirin did nothing to prevent heart disease.

2. Increased Risk of Major Bleeding: Those who took aspirin were 38% more likely to suffer from major hemorrhages, such as gastrointestinal or brain bleeding, compared to the placebo group. Aspirin causes stroke.

3. No Impact on Longevity or Cognitive Decline: A second study by the same researchers found no difference between the aspirin and placebo groups in terms of longevity, dementia, or physical disability rates. Again, aspirin users had a 38% higher risk of major hemorrhage.

4. Higher Risk of Death: In a third study, aspirin users were 14% more likely to die from any cause, with cancer being a major factor—aspirin takers were 31% more likely to die from cancer than those taking a placebo.

Conclusion: Aspirin has no cardiovascular benefits. But it causes stroke and cancer.
