This Acid Reflux Drug Causes Heart Attack and DeathIf you suffer from acid reflux, you’re most likely using this drug, either as a prescription or over the counter.

However, according to a new study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, you should immediately stop taking it.

Among other things, it increases your risk of heart attack and death by a terrifying 35%.

The scientists obtained the medical data of 19,229 people with type 2 diabetes from the UK Biobank. This included information on proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use and subsequent health outcomes.

The researchers chose to concentrate on diabetic patients, as these are the people most likely to take PPIs long-term or permanently.

After all, the main risk factor for acid reflux is obesity, and people who are obese often have diabetes or its predecessor, metabolic syndrome.

They observed their participants for 10.9 to 11.2 years, recording cardiovascular events and deaths.

These were their findings.

1. There were 2,971 new cases of coronary artery disease, with a 27% higher risk for those on PPIs.

2. There were 1,827 heart attacks, with a 34% increased risk for those on PPIs.

3. There were 1,192 new cases of heart failure, with a 35% higher risk for those on PPIs.

4. There were 2,297 deaths, with a 30% higher risk for those on PPIs.

This is, of course, terrifying news if you suffer from acid reflux.

Fortunately, it’s quite easy to heal acid reflux in as little as three minutes. In fact, you only need three ingredients, explained here, that you already have in your kitchen…
