This Enlarged Prostate Supplement Beats Drugs Most men struggle with enlarged prostate as they age. In fact, it’s often mistaken as a normal part of aging.

Traditional medications are both ineffective and often cause serious side effects.

A new study in the Journal of Current Medical Research, however, reveals some very hopeful news.

Specifically, a common enlarged prostate supplement (available in most health food stores) was found to be more effective than medications without any side effects.

Saw palmetto supplements are derived from the Serenoa repens plant found naturally in the Southeastern United States. The supplement is drawn from the fruit.

It’s a popular natural health supplement and is traditionally used for treating everything from an enlarged prostate, urinary symptoms, hair loss, and lack of libido to a variety of inflammatory conditions.

Given its popularity, the research team responsible for this study carried out a review of the existing literature on the effects of the supplement on an enlarged prostate and the urinary symptoms that normally accompany it.

They found four systematic reviews with 10,601 subjects and seven randomized controlled trials with 2,042 subjects.

They were especially interested in studies that assessed the efficacy of 320 milligrams of saw palmetto per day. Only studies on human adult males were included.

They found that the supplement was indeed effective:

1. It was just as effective as 0.2–0.4 milligrams of tamsulosin and five milligrams of finasteride at treating an enlarged prostate. These are both drugs commonly prescribed for this condition.

2. It improved the quality of life of men with enlarged prostates.

3. When compared with a placebo (fake treatment), it improved urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate, including urinary flow, dribbling, and nighttime bathroom visits.

4. It had clear anti-inflammatory effects.

5. It was a safe treatment with no significant side effects, and definitely fewer side effects than tamsulosin and finasteride. Even at three times the recommended dose of 320 milligrams, it was still safe.

6. It worked better than tamsulosin and finasteride against hair loss.

Interestingly, the authors did not find a single study which doubted the effectiveness or safety of saw palmetto. Unanimous backing for a treatment is rare in science, so this is definitely one to record.

But saw palmetto is only one piece of the puzzle to heal enlarged prostate. To bring it back to a healthy size, you need to take the simple natural steps explained here…
