This Enlarged Prostate Healing Plant Is Now Without Side EffectsThis plant has a long history as a treatment for enlarged prostate, but many men believe that it causes ED.

A new study in the journal Archives of Italian Urology and Andrology shows that they are wrong: this plant leaves sexual function untouched.

Serenoa repens, also called saw palmetto, is a palm that produces berries that are popular for treating lower urinary tract symptoms, which commonly result from an enlarged prostate.

In 2020, a team of researchers reviewed the scientific literature on the ability of this plant to treat lower urinary tract symptoms in men with enlarged prostates; their review was published in the American Journal of Men’s Health.

They reviewed studies comparing Serenoa repens with tamsulosin, the most commonly prescribed drug for enlarged prostate.

They found that this plant was just as good as tamsulosin at improving lower urinary tract parameters like maximum urinary flow rate, post-urination prostate volume, prostate hormones, and quality of life. The two treatments also scored the same on the International Prostate Symptom Score, a popular scientific tool for measuring the symptoms of an enlarged prostate.

Given that it works so well, why don’t more men use it?

The authors of the new study in the Archives of Italian Urology and Andrology cited some studies claiming that men believe that saw palmetto causes erectile dysfunction, and therefore did not want to use it.

To investigate this idea, they conducted a systematic review of existing studies that compare the effects on sexual function of Serenoa repens versus tamsulosin and Serenoa repens versus a placebo. They found seven studies investigating the former comparison and eight studies investigating the latter comparison.

They found that Serenoa repens was no more likely than tamsulosin to cause erectile and ejaculatory problems; neither was it more likely to cause problems with sexual function than the placebos did.

In other words, men do not have to worry about negative effects on sexual function when they use Serenoa repens (saw palmetto).

According to the first of these two studies, saw palmetto does not actually reduce prostate size as much as tamsulosin does, but this does not matter, since it can treat the symptoms that make this problem so annoying.

According to the latest of these two studies, this plant works as well as it does because it is a 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor (the same type of drug that treats enlarged prostate). It also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Saw palmetto extracts are widely available in health stores and online.

The downside, again, is that it doesn’t actually heal enlarged prostate. However, thousands of men have shrunk their prostate down to normal using the simple, natural steps explained here…
