When trying to balance lifestyle choices for optimum health, it seems that often there is conflicting advice for which foods and drinks are best and in what quantities.
A new study shows how a drink that is proven to lower blood pressure, raises it if you consume just a little bit too much (and with little bit, I mean something most people would consider moderate).
It is true that certain foods and drinks contain healthful benefits that lower blood pressure, but those same foods and drinks can raise it as well.
For instance, coffee has been shown to be beneficial when limited to less than 16 ounces per day. More than that, and the caffeine can spike blood pressure for days after one exposure.
We also hear a lot about red wine. It is true that red wine is packed with the powerful antioxidant resveratrol. This has been proven many times over to help eliminate free radicals that cause high blood pressure, inflammation, and other problems.
Too much, and you have the opposite effect. Most people understand that binge drinking (getting really drunk) is terrible for health and causes a cascade of trouble throughout the body.
However, a study done at the University of Western Australia in Perth recently found that the difference between just enough red wine and too much might be a thinner line that you might think.
What they found was that people who drank only 5-7 servings per week, or the equivalent of not more than 1 glass per day, had much lower blood pressure levels than people who drank 14-21 servings per week, or 2 to 3 glasses per day.
There was a noticeable difference in blood pressure readings between people having 1 glass versus 2. This is one of the first studies that clearly draws a line between “just right” and “too much,” defining it right down to the glass.
So one glass of wine doesn’t hurt (can even be good), but two is too much.
Enjoying an occasional glass of wine with dinner isn’t generally going to be enough to get chronic high blood pressure down to normal. But there is a simple and effective way to do it without drugs.

I started using natural remedies for managing and controlling my hypertension including quit bingle drinking and make Red Wine my favourite Drink – only in small amounts and at wide range of intervals for a long time now. Together with making healthier life style choices and capturing garlic with my meals.
Any way, I started practicing after reading your articles several times and sharing comments written by other people. For about 7 years now, I am out of medications but on regular cheking and followups – my blood pressure has remained normal.
I advocated this to my friends/relatives and they are enjoying the same results as well.
Then I should be very much thankful for your tireless support to the poor! Here I mean people who are surfering and they lack knowledge & skills; for without you, I could not have survived todate! Probably I could be dead by now.
I hope, the good thing is having knowledge & skills, understanding your limitations, making Healthier Life Style Choices and then putting them into practices.
So I advice people to search for this kind of information, make Healthie Life Style Choices, put them into Practice and Keep records to compare changes then advocate to others.
But, please what do you recommend for the aged people who are over 60 and obese who face difficulties in performing exercices for weight loss, so that they can maintain optimal healthy body weight and quit health risks accompanied by obesity? Thanks
Hi what natural remedies did you use.
