According to a new study, a specific type of mushroom can improve arthritis better than prescription anti-inflammatory drugs.
What’s more, these mushrooms cause no side effects and deliver more permanent results.
A team of researchers from the University of Nottingham identified that Cordyceps sinensis mushroom can be useful for treating arthritis.
To test its efficacy, cordycepin, the active ingredient of the mushroom, was given to rats and mice and the effects were observed.
It turned out that cordycepin was more effective at reducing pain caused by osteoarthritis than most anti-inflammatory drugs. In fact, this compound was found to be helpful even if other drugs and steroids failed to help. Best of all, it seems to have fewer side effects.
It is not just osteoarthritis that cordyceps is useful for. Many previous studies have shown it to have a wide range of benefits including reduction in risk of developing cancer, stroke, kidney damage, inflammatory lung disease, Type 2 diabetes and even to improve sexual function and mood.
Now how can you get your hands on Cordyceps sinesis mushroom?
Unfortunately, Cordyceps sinesis is extremely rare and only grows in specific areas in Nepal. You’re therefore not going to get Cordyceps sinesis in your local supermarket.
However, supplements from Cordyceps sinesis or mushrooms carrying the same active ingredients can be found in most health food stores.
If you suffer arthritis, I strongly recommend you try Cordyceps sinesis supplement for a month or two and see if it helps you.
