Many people who suffer from high blood pressure have been told by their doctors that they must change their lifestyle if they want to beat back the effects.
More than 67 million Americans have high blood pressure. However, the go-to treatment in Western medicine has always been to reject the simple and natural approach of the Eastern world and opt for dangerous prescriptions.
This is despite the overwhelming abundance of evidence showing natural interventions’ ability to eliminate hypertension.
One such treatment has been around for millennia and is more powerful than drugs. And now we have the study to prove it.
[adrotate group=”5″]Researchers in Pennsylvania recently conducted yet another study proving that yoga, even light practices of it, is extremely effective at lowering blood pressure.
In the study, middle age men and women were assigned groups- one that did yoga, one that just did a special diet, and one that did both. What they found was that those in the yoga only group dropped their systolic blood pressure at least 3 points more on average than those who ate the special diet.
Those who did both saw the biggest drops. The results showed that while diet is important, it is only a small piece of the high blood pressure cure puzzle.
Yoga is revered as a stress-busting and body-toning exercise. The best part about it is that people of all fitness and mobility levels can participate in at least some fashion, from very light movements to extreme feats of flexibility.
In the study, though, participants were shown to be able to reduce their high blood pressure by at least as much, and in some cases more, than the most popular blood pressure drugs – without side effects.
Our simple blood pressure exercises are based somewhat on the same philosophy of yoga. However, they require no body-exercises, so it doesn’t matter what kind of physical shape you’re in. Since all you have to do is follow simple directions on audio, there is nothing to learn or practice as yoga requires.

Why do you have to charge $'s to give ALL THIS VITAL information?
For those having high BP due to anxiety disorder, the issue might around the stress/anxiety and the problem seem to be with the way of breathing – this is commonly termed as shallow breathing wherein a person inhales air in the lungs using the intercostal muscles(around neck, arms etc.) – this type of breathing is generally accompanied by pain around the arm etc due to excessive use of those muscles (which can increase the anxiety that there is something wrong with the heart) – actually it is the wrong type of breathing – the right type of breathing is through the diaphragm which is a muscle just above the abdomen – this type of breathing will move your abdomen in and out as you breath out and breath in – Yoga, I believe supports this type of breathing which brings tremendous calmness as it is the natural way of breathing and hence reduces the anxiety and then BP – for more details just google “Diaphragmatic Breathing” and go to the Wikipedia definition – explains in plain English and worth trying.
My BP was 170. I went out and rode my bike fast for 15 minutes and my pressure went down to 130.
three points? whoop de doo!
You are quite right that meditation and deep breathing help lower blood pressure. However, you give the impression that Yoga is helpful. True, it can also lower BP. But unfortunately, Yoga has a downside because it is based on eastern mysticism and worship of Arian gods. For a study on this, see “The Heart of Yoga Revealed, by Judy L. White. (www. BP can be lowered by relaxing exercises without any reference to Yoga!

Blueheronhealthnews provides with very useful information on health issues. I love to read all articles

I beg to differ about Yoga being based on some man-made god. Give me a break. It always takes someone who did a small amount of reading/ no research and lack understanding on his/her just accepting validation from other being. Yoga deals with the meridian, chakra and most of all Energy. Which is what we all are. Pure energy. Please do deeper research instead of reading article and spreading your ideas. What is God based on, your alleged Christian beliefs. There is an old adage if you are not seeking to solve the problem you are part of the problem. On that note I have Zipped Up from your comment, do not desire it into my energy field.
