Whether you are just trying to get healthier or you have been told by your doctor to get your diet changed, the need to reduce LDL cholesterol levels and increase HDLs hits more and more people as the complications from high cholesterol increase.
It can be daunting to know where to start when you used to not have a problem with it and now you do.
Today, we’ll look at the list of the top 4 things you need to start eating that will get your cholesterol to the healthiest levels.
Studies have shown that the best way to get cholesterol under control and balance the numbers to optimum levels is to include these top foods for the job.
Blueberries- probably the single most perfect food ever to grow on a bush or anywhere else, these purple-blue beauties are truly worth their weight in gold. Which is a good thing, considering how expensive fresh ones can be. Blueberries are incredible performers in the antioxidant world, and they are proven winners in the fight to lower LDLs.
Whole grain oats- forget the pre-cooked kind, though. If you want maximum bang for your buck, then get the kind you actually have to cook. The pre-processed ones are full of sodium and their fiber content is reduced. And the incredible LDL-eliminating fiber is the reason oats are so powerful. They act almost as a fat-magnet in the digestion, eliminating nasty LDL and triglycerides.
Nuts- pretty much any nut is going to be a good candidate for fighting high cholesterol, but make sure they are unsalted and not the ones rolled in sugar. Almonds and pistachios are best, but limit servings to about 15 nuts per day to keep from overloading on calories.
Fatty fish- most cold-water fish like halibut, for instance, is going to be packed with Omeg-3 fatty acids. However, salmon is one of the best sources of Omega 3s. Omega 3 fatty acids act as powerful antioxidants and help to balance the ratio with the more harmful Omega 6 fatty acids.

I’m Australian and used to regularly buy what was sold as “atlantic salmon” until I found it was farmed offshore in Tasmania. Now the Tasman sea is still pristine but what are they feeding the salmon? No thanks. They will be feeding them the cheapest crap they can.
Now I buy tinned wild salmon from Alaska. And it’s delicious.
Stop rabbitting on about cholesterol! Evidence is in that low cholesterol is worse than high cholesterol. CVD statistics are NOT linked to cholesterol levels.

Do you know any Asian food that will lower cholesteril?
oily fish like salmon can actually raise LDL……the blurb on krill oil says it lowers cholesterol but it did nothing for mine!
The main thing is to prevent it from oxidising…..plenty of antioxidents, green tea, garlic and onions will help.
I agree with John – low Cholesterol is much more dangerous and the whole cholesterol panic was created to sell mores statins which are in themselves a cause of death of many diseases. High Cholesterol is only a symptom of a sluggish and fatty liver and dysfunctional digestive system. Fix those, and there will be no cholesterol issue.
As for the recommendation to consume oats here – these are highly glycemic, and as high cholesterol usually accompanies diabetes, they are best avoided al together. Daily avocado consumption is a much better idea.
yes I beleive the cholesterrol scare is beginning to cause a psychological problem and the push for drug manufacturers exhibit products.
Asian food is every bit as diverse as it is delicious. I used to think that I knew Asian foods growing up. You see, we used to go out to Chinese and practically every weekend. They were a couple Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood, and they were perfect for us kids. They were greasy, flavorful, and we got a cookie at the end of every meal. What more could a child ask for?^

What I didn’t realize was how much better Asian food could be than what my experience of it was. A lot of Chinese cuisine in America is actually nothing like the traditional style. It is much too greasy, and dominated by a simple array of flavors that doesn’t really capture the complexity of Asian cooking..
Different countries have their own specialties in foods. Guess a spot where you can have all these tastes under one roof without roaming the whole world and that too at the same time. Yes, you are right! It’s a restaurant. Here we will discuss about the Asian cuisines and restaurants. Asians are specially known for their versatility in food and food culture. Each part of the continent is full of different kinds of appetizers to satisfy the hunger and urge of each of the food loving person. But it’s wrong on my part if I only discuss about the Asian continent because even in the outer part also Asian food is in great demands and thus attracting foodies towards themselves irrespective of the geographic barrier or taste variations or rather price distinctions. Asian food restaurants are thus turning out day by day to be the best choice of the food loving crowd of world. Either international tastes or hardcore in house tastes, these restaurants are charged with best of the world class chefs who not only are enough competent to smile at you with satisfaction regarding the food but also proliferates their duty to much wider areas of the restaurants like that of the customer service fragments, clearance of food related issues etc.`
