Results from a recent mega-study that spanned decades and several continents compared low fat and low carbohydrate diets.
The goal was to discover which one is better to lower cholesterol and deliver other health benefits, and the results maybe surprising.
Tulane University researchers saw their work published recently in the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology in the mega-study of 2 popular diets: low fat and low carbohydrate.
Effects on cholesterol and other metabolic markers were looked at, with many thousands of study participants being tracked over several decades, and in many different countries.
What they found was that the participants assigned to the low carbohydrate group had better overall cholesterol levels than those who were assigned to the low fat group.
For many years, people with high cholesterol have been told to stay away from fat, but it turns out that a diet high in carbohydrates will cause problems with all metabolic functions, including metabolizing fat.

If people thought it out carefully , they would easily understand that carbs are deadly since the greedy “food” companies are controlling what we all eat. The Bible mentions fat many times, as a good thing and it’s very obvious that if He had intended for people to drink skim or lowfat milk, that is what cows would produce. We need some carbs for energy, but not the bread made with GMO products and added gluten. Grains already have much more gluten than in the recent past, and now they are adding more ,in addition to all the other nasty things that are not fit for human consumption. Rancid oils, sawdust, eggs from hormone laden chickens, high fructose corn syrup etc
Then there are the pastries, so sweet it’s incredible and all the dyes for colors that are lovely poisons. Can there be any doubt as to which is better?
There is one thing I’ve learned recently, that canola oil is worse than bad. bad.Canola oil is from the rapeseed plant and is so poisonous that no animal will eat it. The poison is reduced to 2% during processing, so people will not die. Personally, I don’t want to eat any poison voluntarily. Dee Sund
I did research, and lowered my cholesterol once; I fear I may need to get on a regular diet of cholesterol lowering foods. I took a plant sterol; ate lots, I mean, LOTS of oat bran in muffins, and added to other foods, and changed some other eating habits; but it worked, and quickly.
I have the whole collection from Blue Heron from the recent special. I think the cholesterol Guide may be in that. I have read over much of the manual; however, have been seriously ill too. I rather have the guide, with everything in it; than to do my own research all over again. I do have the book I used to go by, to reduce cholesterol. The author is now deceased, but increased his lifespan by many years with his plans; assisted by his doctor, his father (a professional health something or other), and his own research, which lowered his cholesterol and kept it lowered the rest of his life. Cant always fight genetics. I was saddened and shocked when I heard he had died. His name was Robert E. Kowalski. I am sure Scott Davis has read his books. I bought a dozen of them; and gave them to friends with high cholesterol. I even liked the muffins and his recipes. The plant sterols he recommended, with no pay-back to him, no profit, work well, too. georgia I still want to read and go by Scott’s guide.
I lowered mine eating oatmeal everyday. Whole grains, and going organic seems to help me without really thinking what’s good or not now, which I didn’t do so well before 🙂 It also helps keep away from gmos. Dee Sund, interesting info also, didn’t know they’ve gone that far. It’s scary.
After another bout of stents and side effects from statins, found out about Drs. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dean Ornish and T. Colin Campbell and their work on plant based nutrition. Have been following it for two months plus now. I eat nothing with a face or had a mother, including no meat, dairy or fish, no oil (not even olive oil), no nuts or seeds, or avocado. I eat vegetables, some fruit, lots of beans, rice and potatos, and whole grain biscuits, Wasa and Ryvita. Also take Pauline Vitamin formula with Vitamin C, lysine and proline, L carnitine and Vitamin E to neutralize LDL and increase collagen. So far lost a lot of weight and feel fine. For those with heart disease, it is worth a try.
I have learned that coconut oil can reduce a lot of diseases.
