Washing your beans may help but the reason I was told that beans cause wind is because the skins are almost impossible for the gut to digest – great roughage but will always cause gases to be produced. Adolphus, I have never heard that. I will do more research. As a Diabetic, I cook a variety of beans; 2 kinds each week. I store the extras in the freezer. It is nice to look in the freezer & find at lease 3 different types of beans, and sometimes more than that. I am research types of foods, seasonings, herbs, edibles, which naturally lower blood sugars, or, blood pressure currently. There is quite a list for either subject & I want MORE on the lists!

The beans that Jamie Oliver are showing are the original Heinz canned baked beans. These are quite a different recipe that the USA or Canadian Baked bean that contains lots of fats and more sugar by way of Maple syrup etc. The British baked beans are less sweet and more tomato flavoured. They’re in a Turquoise can and often available in the Ero section at Walmart. All shops that sell British food stock will keep this brand. Try them and you’ll never go back to USA beans.

Kidney red beans are commonly used in chili soup chili con carne and are an integral part of the cuisine in northern regions of India. Red kidney beans are used in New Orleans and much of southern Louisiana for the classic Monday Creole dish of red beans and rice. The smaller, darker red beans are also used, particularly in Louisiana families with a recent Caribbean heritage. Small kidney beans used in La Rioja, Spain, are called caparrones.”:,”
