Researchers recently identified a troubling ‘trend’ of heart attack associated with a man-made chemical that has been found to be present in blood of an estimated 98% of all Americans.
Those with the highest concentrations had, of course, the highest risk of high blood pressure and other very deadly diseases, though.
A common household chemical found in packaging, non-stick cookware, and carpet has been found in the blood of almost every single person tested recently in a study looking at potential effects.
The chemical, called perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA, is a substance that is used in most every corner of most American houses and in almost every single room from flooring to paint to food wrappers.
The study, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, showed that adults with the highest concentrations of PFOA also suffered more frequently from high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and peripheral artery disease (PAD).
While researchers were quick to dismiss any links as ‘coincidental,’ they did note that those with the highest levels of PFOA were more than 75% more likely to have PAD.
Many other lifestyle factors are cautioned as contributing as well, say the authors, but they also conclude there is enough evidence to merit further testing.

I stopped using non stick cookware many many years ago due to this.
Governments continually nag people that their lifestyles are the cause of their medical problems. But I think environmental factors are making people sick: crappy processed ‘food’ for starters. Plus the toxins as pointed out in this article.
The processed ‘food’ caters for the absurdity where two young parents are required to work to make ends meet, even with little children. Western societies used to be better than that.
Multinational food companies do not exist to provide time-poor parents with nutricious food. They exist to provide profits for their shareholders and take all steps to minimise costs by sourcing the lowest cost ingredients and labour supply.
In Australia, until a few generations ago people traditionally cared for their own children. Our ancestors never worked out at the gym yet my grandparents lived into their 80s and 90s with no drugs. And as they were dairy farmers they ate red meat, milk, butter, cream and cheese. They were as lean as greyhounds, as were most of their generation. Just look at family photos! Few are obese.
Go figure, as the Americans say.
This has become a common problem. Packaging is equal in responsibility to non-stick wares. I try very hard to avoid as much as possible but packaging is a long term problem I fear as most foods are packaged using plastic wrap. Drinks in plastic bottles is just as bad as the toxin leaches into the contents. Glass is best whenever possible.
I use the stonewear pots. Is that better than the non stick?
The best and safest cookware is ceramic. Also, glass bakeware, not the new glass that shatters but look for old Corningware and old Anchor Hocking or old Pyrex. The only thing to microwave with is glass too. Look at flea markets, thrift shops and yard sales as they carry them frequently. They lasted decades for a reason and do not have the harmful chemicals in them from current manufacturing processes. New stuff, particularly out of China, has too many chemicals and toxins. Our grandparents did not have these issues.
Mr Dr says she only knows of 1 guy who ever turned his life round and got off meds etc. I think she can’t be up to much as a doctor then as time after time most of the answers come up in this newsletter. All you have to do is a bit of reaserch, form some new habits like ditching the processed food, pasta, bread, potatoes, and alchohol ( well limit this as much as possible) and going for a walk after evening meal every night and see the difference.
I have lost 20kg on this prescription and feel and look 10 years younger.
