A study following people who are diagnosed with metabolic syndrome recently revealed that donating blood can actually improve blood pressure and other health markers.
Higher than normal levels of iron, high blood pressure, insulin resistance, and high cholesterol are but some of the health characteristics that make up a collection of symptoms known as Metabolic Syndrome.
Researchers in Charité-University Medical Centre in Berlin noticed that readings for these key health markers all improved when the patient donated blood.
While the combination of weight loss and exercise is the current and most effective treatment for Metabolic Syndrome, the study is getting noticed by scientists in the US. However, they caution that until more studies can be done on this issue it should not be recommended as a valid treatment.

Christian, don’t these sorts of stories justify our ancestors’ practice of bleeding patients? It makes sense to me.
Also, there was a Hungarian whose research was the viscosity of blood. He said that thinning the blood was medically a good idea.
I can’t remember if it was the same Hungarian who opined that vaccinations were bad because they violated the purity of blood. His view was that pathogens should first be encountered by the airstream as nature intended, not artificially into the bloodstream by vaccinations.
I think whoever he was will be a new Semmelweiss.
This lesson I got from my holy prophet(p.b.u.h), 1400years ago He prick himself and get rid of the extra blood.
In Islam we have HUJAMA a way of cleaning the blood and increas it's flow circulation. There are spcial dates according to the moon monthly calendar.
I do this every 2 weeks , I still have a wee bit hi pressure , please help me get ti down.
do they allow 80yr olds to donate blood?

Sounds like a whole lot of Goulash to me, our blood is being slowly poisoned by the food chain, with pesticides and other chemicals used to preserve and fortify our food. We all need to get back to a High fat low carb diet that our ancestors ate more natural animal fat like Butter, cream, cheese and Yoghurt, Nuts, berries and vegetables that grow above the ground, fish and shell fish, fruit should be a treat. Carbohydrates turned to sugar and combined with all the processed low fat products we’ve been fooled into consuming make our Omega 6 out of balance with our Omega 3 so our sugars become hard to control leading to Diabetes type 1 and 2.
Cutting down on Carbohydrates like white and brown bread, Pasta, Rice, Potatoes etc…Can help in weight loss, by teaching your body to burn and survive on Fat again will help with lowering and controlling blood sugar levels plus the weight loss will help with blood pressure. Combine this regime with a bit of regular exercise will improve your overall health immensely. The Swedish medical folk have been advocating this diet for years and have had great success with people with Diabetes and Epilepsy, where patients have been able to go without their medication and control their affliction with diet and exercise.
When I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes while I was awaiting Triple bypass surgery in Hospital, I was told that I should have been on a Low fat high Carb diet by the Hospital dietitian. I told her that I had been eating that diet for nearly 20 years. After my surgery and during my recovery I saw another dietitian back in My home town and she reminded me to make sure I ate a Low fat diet with plenty of Potato, pasta, rice and fruit and veg with a little bit of protein thrown in.
That was nearly 3 years ago and I have had trouble controlling My weight, blood sugars and although I walk 4 kilometers every day I can I haven’t been able to maintain my sugars and weight.
2 weeks ago I started on the High fat Low carb diet that the Swedish advocate My sugars before the diet were an average of 8.2 and now they are down to 5.1, I am eating a balance of 50% natural animal Fats, 30% Protein and 20% Carbohydrates at each meal. I am enjoying eating meat of all kinds, eggs. butter. cheese and cream. Yogurt with nuts, seeds and berries. Veges like cauliflower, broccoli, capsicum, onions and all that grow above the ground and now and again beneath the ground like sweet potato and carrots etc… So I know from my own experience that this does work I am loosing weight and have gotten rid of that bloated feeling I had 2 weeks ago. I’ll keep you all posted on my progress over the next few weeks.
so true , helped me so much.
A couple of months ago I donated blood for an operation I was scheduled for. After the unit of blood was taken my blood pressure shot up to 160/95 and my pulse went to 100. This stayed like this for two days (pulse did eventually drop to 80)then went back to my normal blood pressure of 125/65 and pulse of 60. No one can tell me why my blood pressure and pulse went up after giving the blood but I am guessing that my body was trying to cope with replacing the blood I had given. I am in my 70’s.
