Smoking can significantly increase the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis and may worsen symptoms, a new study published by the World Health Organization (WHO) reports. The study also found that women are significantly more likely to suffer from the disease than similarly-aged men.
Researchers aren’t sure why smoking is so closely tied to RA, but they think that inhaling tobacco smoke stimulates the release of compounds known as pro-inflammatory cytokines. These compounds are known to be involved in the development and progression of RA.
Check out this all natural way to tackle arthritis…
I know as a fact, that smoking is a bad habit that people do not understand.
the damage it couses.
It is perfect April first joke. I am smoking over half of the century and have no arthritis. It is gluten, what is make people sick.
No matter how bad the effect of tobacco on people’s health, stopping habitual smokers is next to impossible. Furthermore, like synthetic drugs, tobacco is also a lucrative business raking in billion of dollars. Therefore, killing the goose that lay the golden eggs is very much protected and will requires more than political will. Ironic, anything confirmed bad for the people’s health will always enjoy the Government’s blessing because of the multi-million dollars it brings in form of taxes. It is now a clear case of priority with the authority concern, revenue versus total health care. I believe the first one is way above the other.
muy bueno pero me gustaria en español para re-enviar.
Smoking absorbs Vitamin C in the bloodstream. Vitamin C protects the lining of the cardiovascular vessels, the intima. Any time you have a Vitamin C deficiency there is damamge to cells and yeast and fungi come to eat the debris creating more inflammation (cytokines)and disease. Rheumatoid arthritis is actually a fungal infection of joints combined with a severe allergy to milk and milk products. (Except butter). Yeast-free diet and anti-fungals will heal RA. I have seen wheelcahair bound RA patients rid themselves of RA, and many are now walking several miles a day! See Recaging the Beast at Amazon.
you're so lucky not have RA. but maybe you might have lung diease someday, somehow.
Thanks so much for this information. I have never smoked, but my husband has smoked since a young boy. He thinks he may be getting R. arthritis in his hands and would like to quit, but finds it very difficult. It is a very addicting habit. He quit once without any help, but a relative coming to visit from France got him going again. He is considerate though and doesn’t smoke in the house or in the car. My cousin also has R. arthritis in her hands and is crippled from it and cannot use her hands much. It is a terrible addiction, filling your body with poison. I will be sure to relate this info to my husband.
My mother has been smoking over half a century and now has severe arthritis.
One of my grandmothers never smoked a day in her life, has the most horrible vericose veins, arthritis and numerous other health disorders…never smoked or lived with a smoker.
STOP SMOKING TO DEATH PLEASE.
This article contained very vital information. Stories about smoking are many and quiet explicit. This information is good for smokers and non-smokers to know that smoking is dangerous. It is up to anyone to make the first step. The choice is theirs. They will not tell me that they did not get it. Just keep up informing us about the effect of smoking.
My mother also has some severe arthritis, and has never smoked. However (and I haven't read the article), that does not imply that smoking makes one more likely to develop arthritis.
Smoking is a universal harakiri it destroy your heart, lungs and possibly yours too:)^_^
You have to want to quit. Otherwise it’s useless. Seeing a man in an oxygen tent in a hospital room and hearing his ‘death rattle’ every time he struggled for a breath of air was incentive enough for me to quit. (He had emphysema from years of smoking cigarettes.)
Moses Sr Montanez I am no lucky; I just know haw
My mother never smoked a day in her life, never drank alcohol and yet she had arthritis and died of cancer.
