Reducing calories as part of a dieting bout is common fare fortype 2 diabetics. However, a new research study conducted byscientists at the Newcastle Magnetic Resonance Centre found thata short-term intervention of extreme calorie cutting can improvesymptoms of type 2 diabetes dramatically.
The study assigned a group of long-standing type 2 diabetics to avery low calorie liquid diet that consisted of only 600 caloriesper day for 7-days. Remarkably, blood sugar levels returned tonormal by the end of the 7-day bout. The researchers note thatthe mini-fast allows the pancreas and liver to clear out excessaccumulated fat –which pushes the reset button on carbohydratemetabolism.

I also feel that drastic calorie reduction can turn around type 2 diabetes symptoms. I am a personal trainer that specializes in training obese clients with a big focus on low carb, calorie reduction for a minimum amount of time. I have had a number of my clients begin to experience less knee problems, back problems, lower their blood pressure and even stop ear ringing that is a symptom associated with tinnitus. In short, I am a believer. Keep up the great articles!
