According to a new study, presented at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions in Atlanta, people who enjoy a fiber-rich diet, especially at a younger age, had lifelong a significantly lower risk of cardiovascular disease.
The study author, Donald M. Lloyd-Jones at the Feinburg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, US, said that it’s been long known that fiber helps weight loss and lower blood pressure as well as cholesterol. So it makes sense that in the long haul, it also helps prevent heart attack and stroke.
