A recent study in Stanford has shown that one ingredient that is on the rise in food supplies all over the world is tied directly to increasing numbers of type 2 diabetes cases.
This is even in populations that are not showing a significant increase in obesity, which means that the simple practice of eating this ingredient is a bigger cause of type 2 diabetes than obesity.
Scientists looking at the different factors affecting a population’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes have one more reason to want to cut out refined sugar.
It is known that too much of any one kind of food or ingredient, like sugar, leads to poor health and to obesity, but the recently published Stanford study shows that obesity and sugar don’t have to both be present for risk factors to rise.
Studying cultures where the use of refined table sugar is on the rise, they saw that even when obesity rates weren’t affected, type 2 diabetes rates went up as the use of sugar did as well.
Conventional thinking is that sugar only played a role in causing too many calories to be consumed, therefore increasing risk of obesity leading to diabetes. Now it seems that sugar can skip the obesity risk factor and cause type 2 diabetes, all on its own.
The fact is that type 2 diabetes is curable by applying simple lifestyle changes.

Honey is still a sugar but with a distinct difference , it has so many goodies that one Would be mad not to use it as a replacement to Refined White Sugar in one’s diet. It’s well worth reading about the health benefits of the Natural Wonder Product “Honey”. A word of caution of course is that not all Honey is pure and unadulterated. How so you might ask, well, if you can buy it from a Farmer/Beekeeper (Apiarist) then you can bet that is is mostly pure and unadulterated. But if you buy off the shelf honey from your supermarket it can contain all manner of other products and in most cases has been boiled, filtered and generally messed with to make it look nice for the shopper and the supermarket shelf. If honey is considered too light in appearance then a form of Molasses is added to make it look nice…? and if it is too dark in appearance then Glycerine is added also to make it look nice….?
Refined white sugar is bleached and adulterated and it is this process that renders it as being harmful, Raw Sugar is Supposed to be less of a problem, however a word of caution from a friend who works in “Sugar” not all Raw Sugar is actually Raw Sugar, but a dyed white sugar!
As a sweet tooth myself I love sweet drinks Coffee etc., but Honey is my sweetener of choice and is also used in most cooking in our household !
Please do not cut down on what is held in her hands, rather her
Worth examining.
I hope that you are correct as mllions of people are suffering in India itself which may be benefitted..
This is quite informative. Always knew that refined sugar was a culprit but this direct link is even more shocking.
Jodi – Of course diabetes can be caused by refined sugar alone. I know several thin type 2 diabetics. Diabetes is basically caused by overgrowth of fungi living on the pancreas (and elsewhere in the body) and eating pancreatic tissue for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hence the pancreas can’t function properly. When sugar is removed and a yeast-free diet implemented (with natural anti-fungal supplements such as garlic, oregano oil, caprylic acid, olive leaf extract, etc.) the pancreas can heal itself and type 2 diabetes disappears.
