If we told you that one small vegetable could prevent over a million deaths a year in the US alone, you’d likely think we were off our rockers.
The truth is, though, that this little red root has the power to drop blood pressure by almost 10 points (systolic) within the first 15 minutes of drinking its fresh juice.
Study after study have extolled its virtues, and a new one out of Melbourne, Australia, have once again proven its effectiveness.
Scientists at the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne have proven once again that beet juice is one powerful weapon in the war on high blood pressure.
[adrotate group=”5″]They looked at men and women who either added 12 ounces of beet juice (mixed with 4 ounces of apple juice) or drank a placebo. They found what dozens of other researchers have already shown…that the beet juice group had significantly lower blood pressure after the 3-week study.
Beet juice is packed with antioxidants- more so than many other fruits, vegetables, or roots. However, it can be really strong when taken alone and is almost always mixed with juice from other fruits and vegetables, such as apples, blueberries, and/or carrots.
If you have a juicer, wash these ingredients and run them through it in the morning, twice a week:
– 1 large, red apple (any variety, but Red Delicious is great),
– 4 stalks of celery
– ½ fresh beet, peeled
– 3 medium carrots
– 1 cup fresh spinach
The carrots and apple help to temper the sting of the beet juice without adding too many calories.
The celery and spinach help to temper the color…beet and carrot juice both stain and can deposit pigment in the skin. Too much carrot juice will turn your palms orange and too much beet juice will flush your cheeks.
When taken in moderation with other healthy vegetables that also provide some bulk, you are practically insulating your body from most every disease by drinking beet juice.

When you say beet juice what type of beet vegetable is it?
Drinking fruit juice is a good way to get a big load of fructose into your gut, and with no fibre!
Crazy, considering what we know about fructose now.
Can I just eat a cup of beets or does it have to b juice?
You can buy beet juice crystals at most health food stores. I haven’t tried beet juice bbut don’t pay much attention to most of these claims because to everything there is side effects when comsumed regularity over a long period of time. For example POM juice was being pushed for cleaning out your arteries and lowering blood pressure. They first claimed drinking just 2 oz a day would do the trick. that was a lie. Doing researsh I discovered you had to drink 8 OZ a day for the results at a cost of $10.00 a week. Now if it worked it would be worth the money. But most people were experiencing lots of gas and diarrhea after the second or third day. These miracle cures might work for a few but in my experience will not work for the majority for the long haul. I wish when these claims or made they would do a larger study and list the possible side effects. Beet juice is good to add to a diet but don’t expect a miracle cure for your HBP with out some side effects–it just won’t happen for most. Celery, beet juice, dark chocolate, low sodium V8,and many more or good to add to your diet for HBbut each person has to experiment ith his own body and system.
thank you Mr. Christian.
Yes, John, it's true! Particularly if you like to beet your competition! 🙂
what do we take now, when one good news is coming from one end another counter it for one reason or the other. Who can clear this confusion. I was joyed when I got to know about this juice 4 weeks ago and even bought a blenda for lack of juicer, but, the issue of frutose emerged from no where, were do we go from here?
Can somebody clear the air.
Why can’t we just eat beets?
What about borshd?

I drink beet juice 3 to 4 times a week and it has not lowered my blood pressure. I have tried several of these natural remedies and nothing is working. Very frustrating but I wont give up.
For Trudy who posted above.
Sorry but I wont use facebook.
I have been juicing the same formula above , but without the apple, about 3 or 4 times a week myself for quite a few months. I found during that time my BP has actually gone up!!. I have purchased Christians BP reduction plan (or whatever you call it) and am trying it now (day 2). After doing research I also have added Cayenne pepper tablets (capsicum) , green tea extract, hawthorn berry capsules to my diet as well as black pepper corns on everything I eat. Luckily I love pepper. Have you tried these??…I havent juiced up for a few weeks but have included the above capsules for about 1 week and my inital results are promising. We are all different and what works for one doesnt mean it will work for another but I will try again with the juice. Also something called nattokinase, which is available in some tablet form is supposed to help. I just oredered some.
I started putting Cinnamon in My Half coffee-half chocolate,My blood pressure went so low I was scared 89/50 that was alittle too low. Now I only have it every two weeks, My bp is usually about 117/75 which I like even better. I tried the beet juice with carrot & apple .It made me heart palpatations & diahrea. So it’s not for Me.I had Thyroid Cancer twice.I’m so desperate to be well ,I’ve tried so many so called cures, most are false claims(scams to get Your money. If food was so great why would we get sick in the first place? Think about it. Thank You Daelon
I was where you are…..I had high b.p for years even while taking medication. I tried many natural remedies, and I did find one that worked. Go to dr.mercola.com. and search high blood pressure. elimenating all sugars and grains did the trick for me. Hope this will help you. Good luck!
wonder if they are irratiating the beets which zaps out the nutrition in the veggies and fruits now.
Hi Trudy
The juice should be cold pressed from the beetroot, if it is cooked it becomes inorganic and is not quite so healthy and even bad for your health if you have kidney problems because the beetroot is rich in oxalic acid
This Vegetable Lowers High Blood Pressure In 15 Minutes, so does your tax demand. Magic formulas are ten a penny, it is not a 'super' food that will give you good health, but ALL that is edible will contribute to one's well being. It is knowing one's body and the reactions of certain foods to it, that makes the individual his own doctor of health. Is your food coming from chemically sprayed land? Do you know that the nutritional value of whatever is grown on such land is extremely low, and toxic? Of what worth is such food? It can be more dangerous to eat it, than any benefits you might gain from it. The need to eat high quality naturally grown food is essential for all that is our health, not just our blood pressure. You take care of good nutrition, and your blood pressure along with the rest of your health will respond kindly to your feeding it correctly.
People need to get away from that media indoctrinated mentality that their is some magic 'pill' out there, or some extraordinary wonder fruit or vegetable, they ALL have their uniqueness. That is why our diet should exclude very little of what we call the food chain, it all has a place in our lives for our health and enjoyment. If we were eating correctly we would not have the diseases that now plague mankind.
What about moderation in all things, not just food. What about stress? Are you one who worry's over all and everything? How's about changing your outlook as well as your diet, putting away those human negative qualities and looking at becoming more positive. What about thinking of what you have, rather than what you don't have?
High blood pressure is more than food, self control, moderation, contentment, and more, are what we all should aim for.
it seems that most of the comments above are not satisfied. however fruits that are very much works with my lowering bp are the juice from lemon. Take the 1 spoonfull of lemon juice( from the fruit itself not from a bottle) This will take only 20 minutes to work in the system and the bp will lower the reading. Good luck guys.
Take 3x a day after meal for one week.
Wow – what a mixture of comments! It would appear that we are all different and while Christian is doing our research for us, (thank you Christian), we are able to use our own discretion and only use those remedies that resonate with us. You can also muscle test yourself before using anything new and your body will let you know if this is going to be good for you or not.
All the best way to reduce blood pressure which i ve tried on myslef is to do 30 minutes walk on Tread Mill at atleast at 6 Speed. Best would be a 30 minutes brisk walk in open air but even tread mil worked for me along with 2-3 cups of gree tea /day
Daelon
When people eat organic food and also juice they DO get better in the majority of cases. The “food” or what we classify as food is usually destroyed by modern practices, irraidiation, pesticides especially if its packaged. Go organic if you have had thyroid cancer. I read an article not long ago that scientists admit cancer is a man made modern disease. But everyone is different and our gut especially. Apparently the gut is the major difference between each human.
To Daelon. Food could and should be great but it is certainly not a simple answer. Even for food itself – is your gut able to absorb it properly? There are so many factors like lack pf digestive enzymes, vitamins and minerals, gut flora and inflammation that ca render the best food almost useless.
Second – do u consume the right food at the right time? do you take care to eat regularly, sitting down, enjoying it with full attention rather then eating it with zillion issues zooming in your head? In such circumstances, even the best food turns into poison,
Third, food is not the only factor that affects our health – how are your stress levels? are you hooked on the computer and iphone 24/7? Are u exercising? Are you happy and content with what you have? Are your surroundings full of plastics and toxins of all sorts and kinds? when was the last time you went on a holiday or even had a good 7-8 hours of good sleep? These are just a few illustrations….
So with all due respect to beet juice…………
How often do you recommend drinking 12 oz beet and 4 oz apple, tried it once and seems like a lot of beet to me.
In addition to what Daelon had said, I would like to say cinnmon can be great if it is taken with honey making a cup of tea 3 times a day or can be used according to what you want to treat since cinnamon and honey can be used to treat other ailments such as bladder infections, Cholesterol, cold, upset stomach,to strengthen immune system Indigestion, arthritis and so on
What about eating the canned beet root every 2 x a week. I wonder if that will work too.
Hawthorn is widely regarded in Europe as a safe and effective treatment for the early stages of heart disease and is endorsed by Commission E- the branch of the German government that studies and approves herbal treatments. It is used to promote the health of the circulatory system and has been found useful in treating angina, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia.:;*`
I have this, however, as a diabetic, I am also concerned with the sugars in this mixture. I have drank it a few times, but not on a regular basis, as my sugars were already high. Thank you for your research and information. My son and others without diabetes may like to know this information and the recipe. I really enjoy receiving recipes in my health newsletters. It activates me to do more for my health concerns. Thank you, Blue Heron, and Christian Goodman! Georgia C.
