The Heart Health And Brain Health ConnectionMost often when cardiovascular health is discussed, we think of the risk of stroke and heart attack.

But according to a new study published JAMA Neurology, something much more valuable is at stake … OUR BRAINS!

In fact, there are five specific midlife cardiovascular factors that directly lead to dementia—and the most surprising is factor number five (you’ll never guess it!).

Scientists examined the medical data of 15,744 people from four US states. At the beginning of the observation period (1987–1989), the subjects ranged from 44 to 66 years, with an average age of 57.

Subjects were then examined five times over the next 25 years through the collection of medical and cognitive tests, including telephonic interviews, caregiver interviews, hospital records and death certificates.

After 25 years, over 1,500 subjects had been diagnosed with dementia.

When scientists compared their subject’s midlife cardiovascular health with their later cognitive abilities, it turned out that those with the greatest cardiovascular problems in middle age had the worst cognitive problems later on.

Five major factors contributed to the higher risk of dementia:

1. Midlife type 2 diabetics had a 77% higher risk.
2. People with the APOE gene had a 50% greater risk.
3. Midlife smokers had a 41% higher risk.
4. Midlife high blood pressure sufferers (over 140/90) had a 39% greater risk.
5. Midlife prehypertensives (with elevated but not officially high blood pressure) had a 31% higher risk.

The most interesting finding of the study is probably the discovery that even pre-hypertension in midlife drastically increases risk of dementia as we age.

This refers to people whose systolic blood pressure is between 121 and 139, and diastolic pressure is between 81 and 89.

So why is cardiovascular health so important to brain health?

You see, when your arteries clog up or harden, it restricts blood flow through them. Not just in the heart but every part of the body … including the brain.

Specifically, blood is restricted through the delegate arteries in the neck, leading up to the head as well as the narrow once delivering it throughout the brain.

Interestingly, our brain booster exercises are designed to boost your brain with oxygen (even if you suffer cardiovascular health issues).

They’ve helped thousands of people to drastically improve brain function and memory loss. Learn more about the brain booster exercises and test drive them for your self here…
