Your Type 2 Diabetes May Enable You to Treat the Deadliest Type of CancerAccording to the American Cancer Society, only 14% of those diagnosed with this deadly cancer survive beyond five years at even stage 1, while only 1% of stage 4 sufferers survive that long.

Early diagnosis is uncommon, however, because with this kind of cancer, the symptoms are often nonspecific.

However, some symptoms are shared by those suffering diabetes, making it potentially easier to spot.

Symptoms of type 2 diabetes such as abdominal discomfort, itching skin, and weight loss are also shared by a particularly deadly cancer.

And as deadly goes, pancreatic cancer is one of the worst. This shows why it is important to diagnose pancreatic cancer as early as possible before it spreads to lymph nodes (stage 2), blood vessels or nerves (stage 3), or to remote organs (stage 4). But early diagnosis is extremely difficult.

Once the abdominal discomfort progresses to abdominal pain and the other symptoms become undeniable, the cancer has usually spread beyond stage 1.

Scientists from the International Prevention Research Institute in Lyon, France, have now found another indication of pancreatic cancer that might help with early detection. They presented their study at a recent European Cancer Congress.

After analyzing 368,377 people with type 2 diabetes in Belgium and a further 456,311 Italy, they realized that a surprisingly large percentage of these went on to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer soon after their type 2 diabetes diagnosis.

A startling 25% of diabetics were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer within the first three months after the onset of their diabetes.

This doesn’t necessarily indicate a causative relationship; but, like diabetes and high cholesterol, where one is there is likely the occurrence at some point of the other. This might lead doctors to be more wary of their type 2 diabetes patients to watch for signs of pancreatic cancer.

But this may also be an indicator that the same thing causes pancreatic cancer and type 2 diabetes. So by taking actions to reverse your type 2 diabetes naturally, you may avoid pancreatic cancer as well.
