There is a certain group of berries that have been shown to cut heart attack risk in people who eat them by more than 30%.

Considering the National Institutes of Health have regarded heart disease as the number one killer worldwide, these tasty little gems should be included in most everyone’s menu.

Harvard’s School of Public Health recently released a study on compounds called anthocyanins and the heart-healthy benefits they carry. These compounds are found in the highest quantities in blueberries and strawberries.

The study looked at participants for more than 20 years and found that the people eating strawberries and blueberries were 32% less likely to suffer from heart disease than people who didn’t eat berries.

The compounds work by naturally dilating blood vessels, which helps alleviate high blood pressure, a known cause of heart disease.

While people with allergies and those who need to watch their blood sugar should use caution, most everyone else in the world that has access to blueberries and strawberries should be including them in their diets, at about ½ to 1 cup of either daily.
