Indian researchers recently focused on ONE single vitamin and its amazing power to lower cholesterol to a healthy level using only two vitamin pills per day.

Making sure to get optimum intake of vitamin C everyday does more than keep the flu bug away, according to researchers in India.

They looked at the effects of supplementation with 1000 milligrams of vitamin C daily, split into 500mg twice per day.

As compared to a group that received a placebo, the group receiving the supplemental vitamin C was able to reduce their LDL cholesterol to healthier levels and increase HDL (good cholesterol) at the same time.

The placebo group showed no changes to their cholesterol. There were no other changes to diet in either group.

While diagnosed deficiencies of vitamin C are responsible for diseases such as rickets, it is theorized that not having the OPTIMUM levels of a vitamin can also cause a host of problems that are hard to pin on nutrition alone.

However, studies like the Indian one that focus on the effects of supplementation on certain diseases help to illustrate that simply getting the minimum amount of a nutrient can still cause problems. Getting the optimum amount needed for the body’s systems to function at their highest capacity is still being studied.
