Exciting news was recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Association about the collective state of the nation’s cholesterol levels.
Researchers looking at many thousands of Americans over the course of 2 decades’ worth of health data found reason to celebrate recently.
The goal of health officials and experts working to improve the deadly trend of dangerous cholesterol levels to get them below 200 mg/dL was reached by 2010, the study published in JAMA said.
An overall drop of ten whole points was seen…and not because of the proliferation of medicines on the market, either.
Controlling for diet, medication, and other variables, it was found that the biggest impact on the steep drop was that most food is no longer as dominated by trans fats.
Simply changing what we eat and how we cook it has had an enormous benefit, without drugs, showing that the safest way to drop cholesterol- and also the most effective- is diet-based.
why don't you list 15 foods to never eat.
some body cant read for long like me. if you want to help people please do it.
Perhaps its due to people not eating as much processed food or as many sweets as they use to. Cholesterol is misrepresented by most Doctors as a result of flawed data and Government subsidies. Meat and fat don’t effect the numbers as bad as grains and fructose,o
ther sugars do. Watch “Fat Head” or read some books on the Paleo Diet.
CHOLESTEROL.
We are told incessantly that high cholesterol is bad for us. But low cholesterol is far more serious. Cholesterol is an essential compound in our bodies. Low levels of cholesterol are associated with increased total mortality, cancer, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, antisocial behaviour, depression, suicide, increased susceptibility to infections and other conditions.
The only information that reaches the masses as regards cholesterol, is that which is controlled by the upper echelons of the medical and pharmaceutical controlling elite. Through their paid for media moguls and media pundits they propagate the MYTH that is cholesterol.
The information and studies on the truth of cholesterol is abundant, so why is this information kept in the dark? The reason is simple to explain. Firstly, there are 30,000 medical journals published and no doctor can be expected to read them all. Secondly, wherever heart disease is mentined in conjunction with cholesterol, out of the many studies that have been published, only a mere handful – the supportive studies – are quoted. The vast majority that do not support the MYTH are rarely mentioned.
Those preferential citations have skewed the facts. In addition, pharmaceutical companies who sell cholesterol lowering drugs produce many publications which broadcast the cholesterol lowering MYTH to millions. So it is'nt really surprising that overworked professionals continue to teach us that cholesterol is dangerous, and pharmaceutical companies aggressively push their cholesterol lowering drugs.
If people were to take responsibility for THEIR well being, and not leave it to others, and did the research that is important for them, they would then be able to make an informed choice when confronting anyone from the medical profession. It is their life that is at stake, Doctors bury their mistakes, and remember after the two biggest killers on the planet, cancer and heart disease, doctors come third on that list. Who would want to put their lives in the hands of such a profession? The evidence is all around us, they cannot cure a runny nose, and we now have a society that is suffering untold plagues that vitually leave no household untouched.
All they do is TREAT, and treat some more, nothing about prevention, or a cure. For a healthy nation generates little profits for all that is the 'medical profession.'
The proof of the prescription is in the taking, and the evidence speaks for itself.
Kim Mai Vo – Cut down drastically on carbohydrates, that includes fruit and vegetables, eat more of the leafy green vegetables they have very little carbohydrate in them. Eat more natural foods, try to find people who can supply you with raw milk, and unpasteurised cheese and butter, fatty meat, cook in butter or lard, NEVER use low fat oils, or margarine, get organic wherever possible. The proof of the pudding is that most people use low fat products and oil in their cooking, they follow the misleading media and that is why so many are so sick. There are now plagues of degenerative diseases across society, the evidence of the media lies are there for all to see.
I am in full agreement, nothing beats diet and exercise. The pills will kill you, the way you eat coupled with exercise will heal you.
The myth, that cholesterol is the “bad guy”, lives on.
As does the unproven hypothesis that saturated fat is also one of the “bad guys”.
A reading of 200 mg?dL (5.4 mmol/L in the rest of the world )is too low to go.
yes make it short and reveal it there and then..easy to people to read..thank you.
There have been ZERO randomized doblue blinded clinical dietary intervention studies that can attribute saturated fat restriction or cholesterol lowering to reduced CAD mortality, CAD incidence or all cause mortality. Saturated fat restriction, and cholesterol lowering has NEVER saved even a single life. ( Only statin drugs have a bit, but they have 11 other effects independent of cholesterol lowering. It is THESE anti inflmmatory , anti clotting effects that are responsible for any reduction in coronary mortality) There have been ONLY 4 out of 26 prospective studies that even show the SLIGHTEST association between saturated fat intake and CAD mortality ( and one of those 4 was a PROTECTIVE effect) but remember these prospective studies , not a tightly controlled clinical dietary intervention study like mentioned above. And the lowest of the low, epidemiological research, shows numerous populations who eat a diet rich in saturated fat and have VERY low CAD rates- The Maasai, Dinkas, Samburu, French , Tokeleaus and Inuits to name a few ..So to answer your question:Make sure you have a background diet rich in saturated fat ( for better nutrient absorption) , include a good dose of EPA/DHA to your diet from fatty fish, DO eat red meat, DO have butter and coconut oil, get plenty of nutrient dense plant matter, get plenty of magnesium, keep blood sugar stable, and avoid all low fat nonsense like the plague it is. Low fat diets are very, VERY bad for you. This is the actual truth scientifically speaking. I know what I am talking about unlike some of the answerers here ..
