There is one simple approach, actually a principle that was discovered by an economist over a century ago, that I’ve used to help thousands of clients heal various diseases.

What’s neat about this principle is that it makes hard problems easy to solve and almost eliminates relapse in diets and exercise routines.

It also helps you cut through the spider web of complicated health solutions that are mostly designed to sell elixirs, drugs or devices.

In today’s feature article I’m focusing on using this rule for health. However, it’s extremely effective for every aspect of your life: relationship, career, money etc.

Don’t ignore its simplicity. Often the simplest things in life give the best results.

You may very well have heard about the Pareto principle, or the 80/20 rule. It was originated by Italian economist, Vilfredo Pareto, in 1906 and put in print by business-management consultant, Joseph M. Juran.

Since then it’s been put in practice by every successful entrepreneur, CEO and scientist. Because it somewhat contrasts with how we think, most people have a problem applying it to their daily lives.

What Pareto discovered was that 20% of the pea pods in his garden contained 80% of the peas. He could actually throw away 80% of the pods and still have almost as much yield as he had before. And since every pod required the same time and effort, by doing this he could save himself 80% of the time, effort and money.

This was only the beginning. Since then economists and scientists have discovered that this principle actually applies in almost every area of our existence. The percentage may vary from 60/40 to 99/1 but, the principle remains the same.

Let’s apply this to health…

Obesity is one of the biggest health issues we face in Western society. Even infants are getting fatter. So the government and health systems have set up complicated health guidelines about balancing diet and exercise; this much carb intake, this much fat, this protein, etc.

And most of the time, if people follow it in general they’ll definitely lose weight. But the guidelines are complicated. And statistically, very few people follow it.

Instead, you could identify what counts for the majority of your excess calories that are not doing you any good. What ONE thing could you change that took minimum effort, but produced maximum effect?

For example, with many people this would be to completely replace sodas with water; not fruit juice, not diet drinks, not milk, just water. If you drink any amount of flavored drinks, try this for a month and watch the scale go down.

If it’s not the soda it maybe the candy bar or a daily cake.

This is one simple thing that requires minimum effort, but produces maximum results.

I applied this principle very effectively when I updated my migraine and headache program. I had created an earlier program that was extremely effective by eliminating various migraine triggers. However, it took great effort to put into practice. Then I discovered ONE major trigger that was present in about 80% of all migraine attacks. By working on this ONE trigger, most people completely eliminate their migraines for good.

You can use this principle to improve your health step-by-step. There is almost always ONE thing that is the major contributor for whatever health issue you are having. If you eliminate or work on that one thing you may not be completely cured but your health improves drastically.

Once you’ve become used to eliminating the first major issue, identifying and correcting the rest is much easier.

Let’s say you have high blood pressure and other cardiovascular health concerns. The first thing you want to do is get your blood pressure as close to normal as possible, with as little effort as possible, without having to use medications.

Our blood pressure exercises have been proven to help almost everyone get their blood pressure under control. And although you can do all the exercises every day for 40 minutes for maximum effort, doing one of the exercise for 9 minutes helps most people bring their blood pressure below 120/80 in less than a week… small effort with maximum results.

Okay, now your blood pressure is under control. You’ve become used to applying the easy, 9-minute exercises daily and are most likely enjoying them a lot (many people have emailed me that they feel almost positively addicted to the exercises). So what’s next?

Although bringing your blood pressure down immediately begins improving your over all cardiovascular health, you may now want to work on your cholesterol level. You may identify that as your next 20% health issue that’s causing 80% potential suffering.

There are hundreds of articles on this site on simple things you can do to improve your cholesterol level. Or, you may want to check out Scott Davis’ cholesterol guide. Scott is a master of applying the simplest things that cause the biggest improvements.

Or you may consider inflammation your biggest issue. Inflammation causes all kinds of chain reaction health issues. It’s the major cause of arthritis, type 2 diabetes and most cardiovascular diseases.

In that case, you may want to check out Jodi’s Type 2 Diabetes guide or Shelly’s arthritis system. Both apply the 80/20 rule to the max.

In addition to all the guides I’ve mentioned, our website (and the Internet in general) all have a ton of information and tips on how to improve your health and specific health problems. The important thing is to identify what applies to YOU and YOUR 80%.

Because of its simplicity and power, this principle easily be used in all areas of your life to affect major change. Saying kind words and sharing appreciation to your partner doesn’t cost a dime. But doing so on a daily basis creates much more positive energy than occasional big gifts or glamour.

Oftentimes there is ONE thing in personal finances that’s eating up the checking account. Eliminating this one thing may turn a big minus into big plus.

Now I’m going to throw the ball over to you. Have you experienced this principle in action? Please share your story and insight below in the comment section.
