A recent study making use of far-reaching and intensive data on genetics casts doubt on the belief that “good” cholesterol, or HDL, has any impact on heart health.
Findings published in The Lancet recently revealed that raising the HDL or good cholesterol in the blood may not be effective at reducing the risk of heart disease.
The study, which used genetic data gathered over many years, looked at risk factors for people who either had a genetic predisposition to having higher HDL levels or lower ones.
What they found was that in those people who were genetically “blessed,” their risk of developing heart disease was no higher than their low-HDL counterparts.
Interestingly this comes around times when many of the big pharma are developing drugs aimed to raise HDL rather than the standard Statins that lower cholesterol.
Here is a natural way to get your cholesterol numbers down naturally…
So it realy doesn’t matter if your HDL cholesterol is low or high.
Mabe it is the ratio between HDL & LDL that matters most.
Hmmmm. This sort of makes me wonder who paid for the study? Big Pharma?
The whole cholesterol thing is a SCAM. Cholesterol is not a disease. Cholesterol is not bad, neither LDL nor HDL. This is all about selling Statin drugs, the biggest money-makers the drug companies have. A cholesterol level of 250 is a lot more healthy than a level of 150. With the higher cholesterol you will live longer. Cholesterol is manufactured by the liver…why? Because God designed us so that we had to have cholesterol. It is absolutely essential for the brain, and for brain health. The Statin drugs cause Alzheimer like symptoms is many who are using them. Every cell in our bodies need cholesterol, it is a part of the cell wall. Eat your eggs, and your red meats, and enjoy. And forget about cholesterol, it is not a disease, nor does it cause disease.
Oh come on, stop pulling our legs. Does this kind of studies compliments the giant Pharmaceutical Companies in their quest to lure more people in buying their products. Why can they set the record straight and true?
Ive read dozens of articals that cannot find a link between cholesterol and heart attacks and the fack that 70% of people that die of one has perfectly normal cholesterol, lets face it Eskimos eat a diet well high in saturated fat and they are not dropping dead regularly clutching their chests.
Perhaps the cholesterol numbers are affected by other factors which have not yet been generally made public to the masses.
I a expecting that a solar storm in December to poison the heart. Only a couple billion may die. Some of this prediction is found in crop circles. If I am wrong, blame them.
That is absolutely true about cholesterol. Some people live of saturated fat in their diet and I wonder how their ldl, hdl is.I also wonder who does or pays for the studies on things that we were told bad for us and are now very good for us , Like chocolate, coffee, wine , alcohol. Why does everyone want to get into our diet we have an appetite system to help us?
There still is time to act. There still are mass movements to join. If the street protests in Quebec, the most important resistance movement in the industrialized world, spread to all of Canada and reach the United States, there remains the possibility of hope.

I am yet not convinced with the comments on HDL.Need more information and authentic proof.
After having a heart attack and living with Statins and blood pressure medication, I had to deal with what those drugs did to me. Simply put, I was motivated to change things. Now, 5 years later, I take no medication. I eat whole fresh veggies, meat, complex carbs(whole grain) with the odd little treat and get as much exercise as I can in simple forms like walking etc. Stay away from the processed foods and take advice from your body. Our bodies were programmed to heal themselves if we give it a fighting chance.
Pare ko, mga marketing strategies yan. Those advertising companies are well paid to think and make those ads. Anyway most of the food we eat now are full of chemicals bad for the health and carcinogens. No escape pare ko.
When your time is up your time is up its that simple, when we are born a specific time is allotted to each of us and when that time has been used up, off we go. So live life as if its your last day, never be afraid to say your sorry and love yourself for being who you are not who you would like to be, the rest takes care of itself. Be kind to yourself and put your trust in your God whoever you conceive that God to be and be at peace in all that you do.
It is gratifying to read the comments above and know that people truly are waking up to the fact that there is no place for pharmaceuticals in a healthy body. The body is an amazing self healing, self regulating entity and all it needs is the right combination of whole foods and movement to do it’s work. That’s whole foods people. Not burgers, coke and packaged pap that will rob us of our health.
Pharmaceuticals, be they statins, asprin or anything else the pharma industry puts out, cause havoc to the minute chemical changes that naturally occur each second in the body in order to maintain health. We may all need pharmaceuticals at crisis times during our lives, but living with them on a daily basis is to at best guarantee we’ll never experience optimal health and at worst ensure an untimely demise by a life cut short. There is so much good advice on this site and thousands of others. All we need to do is get informed and get healthy the natural way.
The 4th paragraph looks like it is incorrectly worded. Has anyone else noticed this?
Thank you for this article. When we use metformin on a long term basis, why are we not told that our Vitamin B12 levels will most likely become low. Why is this not monitored? this is what you posted on a web page..wife found out that b-12 and high faty acids like fish and primrose oil are crucial to cell development with out it the cells are retarted or deformed and can not provide there task of carrying oxygen and repairing nerv endings from sugar damage. she feels this why people loose there legs and feet. since adding this to her diet she no longer has the burning and numb feelings in her legs and feet and no more metal taste in her mouth
no leg swelling either
