We have heard for the past several year about the benefits of eating cold water whitefish, with its powerful antioxidant and cholesterol-lowering characteristics.

But another little gem of the northern sea has a whole separate health benefit to boast.

Researchers out of Norway recently revealed that people who were pre-hypertensive, or were borderline for full blown high blood pressure, actually were able to stave off developing hypertension by including a northern shrimp concentrate in their supplement regimen.

The cold water northern shrimp are found near the Arctic Circle.

For those who don’t like to eat shrimp, the Norwegian group studying the shrimp say that the concentrate of the shrimp used as a supplement was effective at keeping blood pressure problems at bay.

How much shrimp to eat may vary from person to person. But this is definitely indicator that people should add shrimp to their meal plan.
