We have heard for the past several year about the benefits of eating cold water whitefish, with its powerful antioxidant and cholesterol-lowering characteristics.
But another little gem of the northern sea has a whole separate health benefit to boast.
Researchers out of Norway recently revealed that people who were pre-hypertensive, or were borderline for full blown high blood pressure, actually were able to stave off developing hypertension by including a northern shrimp concentrate in their supplement regimen.
The cold water northern shrimp are found near the Arctic Circle.
For those who don’t like to eat shrimp, the Norwegian group studying the shrimp say that the concentrate of the shrimp used as a supplement was effective at keeping blood pressure problems at bay.
How much shrimp to eat may vary from person to person. But this is definitely indicator that people should add shrimp to their meal plan.

how to get the "arctic" shrimp….are there distributors? And if we eat "ordinary" shrimp….is it OK too….and one more thing, do we have to boil, bake, fry….or?
If shimp help blood pressure that's great. I just had some yesterday mixed in low sodium v8 vegetable juice with onions and seasoning good to me. Also you can mix in cucumbers, green peppers, clams, lemon juice.

I asked my Nutritionist about cholesterol in shrimp, and she told me that it does not increase the cholesterol in our bodies. Apparently, there has been a change in professional opinion on this. Which makes me very happy, as I adore shrimp salad, shrimp soup, shrimp sandwich…yum!
