Protein-Rich Diet Can Change Food Preferences

Craving a steak for dinner? According to a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition this may be a symptom of a low protein diet.

In this study of 37 volunteers, two different groups were asked to eat a protein-rich or low protein diet and routinely polled on their cravings.

Those that consistently ate a low protein diet tended to crave protein-rich foods such as lean meats, low-fat dairy and nuts. The scientists note that the body may need to consume a critical mass of protein per day.

So if your goal is to minimize red meat consumption for health reason such as lowering cholesterol, managing blood pressure or fighting type 2 diabetes, then make sure you get enough protein from other sources.

  1. Jane Remington says:

Eating healthy red meat from organic, grass-fed, grass-finished beef does NOT contribute to high cholesterol, hypertension, or diabetes. Eating meat loaded with antibiotics, hormones, grains infested with fungal poisons, pesticides, and herbicides is what is fueling those diseases – along with sugar. Humans were designed to eat meat (moderately) as there are critical nutrients in meat hard to find elsewhere. But clean, healthy meat ONLY!

I only use 40 gr of protein a day, 30 gr carbs ,My source of energy is Fat 120-180 gr Works well. Less protein, less work for liver
But protein has to be good ,animal mostly .Suger in check 5-6 mmol,no medication good slip, good weight. This model of eating worth to check ,especialy for sick people ,overweight etc.

  3. Dr Mass R. Usuf says:

Go by what Jane Remington has said above. Very true! Enjoy your HEALTHY meat with no fear of the pharmaceutical-engineered-paranoia called ‘cholesterol’ lurking in your mind. As an aside – if LDL is ‘bad’ cholesterol then God’s creation is imperfect as God has then created his supreme creation with a manufacturing defect called ‘bad’ cholesterol!

body constitution is different and widely varies. what is true for one may not be true in another. better standard or normal protein requirements are mentioned, for differing age groups and overweights and underweights. then comments will become sensible ane reliable
