A new paper published in this month’s issue of the Journal of Sexual Dysfunction notes that erectile dysfunction is often found as part of a “triad” of symptoms, including heart disease and depression. The paper, written by Ahmed I El-Sakka of Suez Canal University, is the first to bring together the research that has long connected erectile health to heart and mental health.
The author notes that patients with ED should look at risk factors that influence both the health of the brain and of the heart –which is deemed a “new paradigm” by the paper’s author. In particular, he notes that risk factors for depression –such as social isolation—are closely linked to ED. Also, he notes a growing trend of research showing that ED is a risk factor for heart disease.

Dear Christian, As a dentist who treats a lot of snoring and OSA please be aware that this triad is often indicative of OSA, especially when combined with either DM type II or HBP requiring more than one med.
Best wishes and keep uup the good work.
