Including a special breed of purple potatoes in your diet is an effective way to naturally turn down the dial on blood pressure, according to a new study presented at the National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society.
In this study, a group of 18 obese adults with high blood pressure were asked to eat approximately 6 golf ball-sized purple potatoes –with skin— daily. At the end of the study it was found that the potatoes reduced blood pressure by an average of approximately 4 points. The study authors note that the high levels of potassium found in potatoes are likely responsible for its ability to reduce blood pressure.
Even more effective method to lower blood pressure…

Are these potatoes the purple ones with the tan skin from Japan? I LOVE those!

Dear Christian,
I just thought I’d let all you guys across the Pond know that we grow purple potatoes in Scotland, so they are quite an accepted variety here and yes, they have been promoted as a healthy variety.
I do enjoy all your articles and tips for good natural health. since I am seriously allergic to a lot of pharmaceutical products, I go for the natural cures as far as possible.
All The Best.
