Researchers from Northwestern University report a “concerning” trend among arthritis sufferers: not exercising enough. In research involving more than 1,000 adults suffering from knee osteoarthritis, less than 10 percent of the volunteers hit their weekly 2-hour exercise target.

Exercise isn’t just important for an arthritis patient’s overall health – the study authors state that exercise is one of the most effective treatments for arthritis on the planet. Exercise releases endorphins –compounds in the brain that naturally reduce pain. Also, walking, jogging or doing yoga can help reduce obesity. Being obese can significantly increase arthritis knee pain.
