We live in the world of awareness that the food and drinks we choose have a direct impact on our overall health.
We try to consider foods that are heart-healthy, have the ability to reduce high blood pressure, blood sugar and bad cholesterol, and weight-friendly foods and so on..
But what if we told you that some foods you thought were beneficial to your health (and are heavily advertised as such) are actually very bad for you!
These so called “healthy foods” are altering life-threatening diseases like type 2 diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases.
Click on the link and find out the shocking truth about these so called “healthy”products …
The sad truth about honey
Recently an independent research study done on honey sold in the US revealed a shocking discovery.
Apparently, more than 3/4 of honey available in the supermarkets across the country is not exactly what you would call “honey.”
This honey does not contain a trace of pollen, the substance that pure, healthy honey has. Bee pollen is one of the healthiest ingredients in honey- loaded with vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, lipids and protein.
The honey found on the shelves of the supermarkets has been filtered and processed to remove the pollen to cover up the source of origin.
This kind of honey, which is mostly imported from China and India, is unsafe because it’s been contaminated with heavy metals, antibiotics and pesticides.
The US Food and Drug administration states that ultra filtered honey with pollen removed cannot even be called honey as it loses the definition of honey and completely loses its health value.
Another disturbing fact is that often the cheap “honey” sold at the supermarket is actually a high fructose corn syrup blend. Beware of this kind of “honey” as it alters various health problems- especially type 2 diabetes.
Obviously, this kind of honey provides more harm than good to our health. I would recommend finding a locally produced honey in your area. It might be pricier but it’s well worth it to ensure you are getting the real, healthy product.
Fruit Juices
We are all aware that eating fruits is crucially important to our health. It supports us with important vitamins, minerals and fiber. However, drinking fruit juice bought from the supermarket might not be the healthiest alternative.
The truth is that most of the juices on the market are nothing more than water, artificial flavor, and sugar! Some of them might contain some real fruit juice; however, it is not enough to get the health benefits. Most of the juices have fiber removed and very few vitamins left. Surprisingly, a serving of orange juice contains the same amount of sugar as a soda drink!
It is not a secret that consuming too much sugar leads to serious health conditions like type 2 diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
Stay away from these “healthy” juices. If you want to get the benefits of drinking fruit juice, better throw some real fruits in a blender to make your own healthy drink, loaded with vitamins, fiber and nutrients.
Fat-free Flavored Yoghurt
Something to remember- if you see a product that says fat-free, WALK AWAY! This is a tricky, sneaky selling point. Fat is not what we should be scared and is not what necessarily makes us fat.
In fat-free foods, fat is usually removed and replaced with sugar or artificial sweeteners. Most of the “fat free” flavored yoghurts are loaded with it and even if they do contain real fruits, they are definitely not good for our health. Sugar overload is the main cause of type 2 diabetes, obesity and poor cardiovascular health.
Choose the plain Greek yoghurt and add some organic fruits and nuts. You will get the health benefits, it is fresh and tastes great too.
Vegetable oils
Most of the vegetable oils on the market today contain GMO and are processed using toxic ingredients.
The steps in processing usually include degumming, bleaching, deodorizing and filtering. During the process, important nutrients and antioxidants get destroyed –but not the harmful pesticides and chemicals.
The best examples of this very unhealthy kind of processed oil would be corn, cottonseed and soybean oils. Over 90% of these oils are genetically modified.
The process used to extract the maximum amount of oil requires the use of hexane and other strong chemicals and substances.
These oils are loaded with Omega-6 fatty acids and unhealthy trans-fatty acids;
And even though we need some of Omega-6 fatty acids, too much of them increases the risk of serious heart diseases and obesity. It also causes inflammation.
There are many great, healthy alternatives on the market today to get the heart-healthy fatty acids. Unrefined, cold-pressed olive oil, coconut oil, sesame oil and palm oil would be just a few examples.
Cinnamon powder
Research done on cinnamon showed that it has a positive impact on insulin sensitivity, allowing the body to process carbohydrates better. This means it has the impact to lower total blood sugar keeping at bay type 2 diabetes and obesity.
However, an examination done by the New York Board of Health discovered that most of the cinnamon available at the grocery stores has very little or no cinnamon in it at all!
Out of 12 kinds of cinnamon examined, only 3 contained some traces of it. Most of the cinnamon on the market is just sawdust mixed with starch and artificial cinnamon flavoring, eliminating any possibility of health benefits.
To make sure you are getting real cinnamon, try to purchase it at a health food store near you and carefully examine the ingredient list and where it comes from.
Taking into consideration this new information, it is important to have a certain level of knowledge when choosing the foods that are actually healthy for us and provide the best health benefits.
The rule of thumb is to choose the less-refined products, locally grown fruits and vegetables and also organic production from your nearest health food stores.
Choosing good food is extremely effective for treating various diseases. Please choose your subject for more information:

Good info to know..
good article
great info.THANKS!!
I do hope this is the link.
If anyone is using honey as a substitute for sugar, try to buy it from a local seller. WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS IN OUR FOOD when we buy commercially produced food from the major stores.
Anyone concerned about the environment should be very careful when buying palm oil. Many areas have been devastated to allow for palm oil to be grown.
Cinnamon is tree bark, so technically it IS sawdust.
Good article, except the advice to use palm oil instead of more refined oils. I see someone has already said it, but many areas of are being destroyed (and with them the habitat for orangutans) to plant palm trees.
Thanks for this information.
great even my Cinnamon isn't real
