Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is obviously caused by fat buildup in the liver. Usually it is blamed on bad diet, obesity, and lack of exercise.
But this is not true , reports a new study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.
The researchers discovered five sleep patterns that could be the cause for up to 80% of all NAFLD cases.
Change these sleep patterns and watch your NAFLD melt away!
The researchers analyzed the data of 5,011 adults for whom self-reported sleep behaviors were available. The data also included their NAFLD statuses, properly diagnosed through scans.
They further collected their demographic information, their lifestyles, medication, and co-occurring metabolic disorders such as diabetes to ensure that none of these influenced their findings.
Here is what they found:
-
1. Those who went to bed late had a 37% higher NAFLD risk.
2. Those who snored were 59% more likely to have NAFLD.
3. Those who napped for more than 30 minutes during the day had a 17% increased risk of NAFLD.
4. Those with sleep disturbances during the night and those with prolonged napping during the day had the highest overall risk of NAFLD.
5. Moderate improvement in sleep quality was related to a 29% reduction in NAFLD risk.
The link between poor sleep and NAFLD was the strongest in those with a sedentary (inactive ) lifestyle and a large waste circumference.
Obesity explained only 20.77% of the effect of sleep quality on MAFLD risk, meaning that sleep quality did not have its adverse effects through obesity alone.
You can work out your own NAFLD risk by checking how many of these habits and characteristics are present in your life.
Prolonged daytime napping, late bedtime, sedentary lifestyle, and large waste circumference are under our control, so we can improve our odds by tackling those.
But better sleep alone is not going to cure NAFLD. Thousands of readers have, however, completely healed their NAFLD using the simple, natural steps explained here…
